Road and Trail: December 2012
http://blog.akira3d.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 22, 2012. 27 Miles for 27 Sandy Hook Victims. Can it be called a marathon if it is not a race? If so, then I just ran my second marathon in 2012.unexpectedly meeting my New Year's goal at the just a couple of weeks before the next one. But if I didn't, it is no big loss.because, one way or another, I did something that felt really good. Apparently Christophe's running event was not the only one taking place upon the bike paths of Santa Monica this morning. As we continued south, we...

Road and Trail: May 2012
http://blog.akira3d.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 19, 2012. Palos Verdes Half Marathon 2012. Leo continues to warm up as more runners start to show up. The race is scheduled to start in three minutes, but, again, the majority of participants are still in the parking lot below. Finally someone makes an official announcement. The masses approach. Leo and I have a sweet central spot just a couple of seconds from the timing mat. As we approach the crest of this first hill, I noticed my Garmin watch has not recorded any distance. Damn! Making m...

Friday, November 16, 2012. First Recovery Run Aborted. Wednesday was technically the first day I felt like I could run following the Malibu Marathon, but this morning is the first I actually tried to put feet to pavement largely because my right ankle really started bothering me towards the end of Sunday's race.and even more so in the days that followed. Road and Trail: March 2013
http://blog.akira3d.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 17, 2013. Los Angeles Marathon 2.0. Alas, it was not meant to be. I spent the week shifting my hours so that I was able to get a solid 8 hours of sleep. I even woke up a minute before my 3:30am alarm sounded, so I had plenty of time to enjoy a bagel and a cup of coffee. Valerie dropped me at the Artesia Transit Center before the first Metro Silver Line bus arrived and there were zero issues between there and Union Station, despite some detours due to road closures for the marathon. The bott...

Road and Trail: March 2011
http://blog.akira3d.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 28, 2011. Between March 4th and last Friday, I did not run at all. This was partly due to a week-long snowboarding trip I took in early March (I didn't even bother to pack running shoes) and because I picked up the flu on the final days of that trip. When I resumed, I slipped on my Vibram Five Fingers and only attempted my short 1.5 mile orbit. My calves really burned the next morning.though any pain hardly seemed justified after such a short distance. After aborting the trail, we continued...

Road and Trail: September 2011
http://blog.akira3d.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Frustrated that flooding prevented me from running on the streets of Siem Reap, I have been itching to get out on the streets of Saigon. I would have run yesterday if we hadn't booked a full day trip to the Mekong Delta.which required an early departure so we could stop for ca phe sua da before catching the bus from Saigon Tourist. The buses have departed, so the return run seems less eventful even though more businesses have opened and placed stuff on (or have scooters par...
