Bei mir wurde die Skoliose 2011 festgestellt, als ich 12 Jahre alt war. Ich war nämlich bei einer Jahreskontrolle beim Kinderarzt. Da musste ich mich nach vorne bücke. Als ich dies machte sagte die Ärztin, dass meine Wirbelsäule eventuell krumm ist. Sie überwies mich in den Kantonsspital um dort Röntgenbilder zu machen. Fleissig immer in der Therapie gewesen, ging ich 6 Monate später ins Krankenhaus um neue Röntgenbilder zu machen. Dies tat ich dann auch, jedoch war das Ergebnis erschreckend! Ende Oktobe...

Die gesunde Wirbelsäule ist von der Rückseite aus betrachtet gerade, das heisst, die Wirbelkörper stehen in einer Linie aufeinander. Bei der Skoliose kommt es zu einer seitlichen Verkrümmung der Wirbelsäule, meist in Höhe der Brustwirbel oder Lendenwirbel. Die Wirbelsäule ist im Abschnitt der Skoliose versteift und kann nicht gerade aufgerichtet werden. Die Bezeichnung Skoliose kommt vom griechischen Wort "Skolios' und bedeutet ' krumm' .
