Schools are gradually being infected with enthusiasm for enterprise, a.k.a. business studies, and the first series of Dragon’s Den was a surprise hit for BBC2. Venture capital is getting everyone talking – a few years ago most people had never heard the term. Posted by Arabella McIntyre-Brown. Born – or made? They don’t wait for someone to hand t...

Mersey Mini FEEDBACK: from Phil Morris
http://merseyminisfeedback.blogspot.com/2008/01/from-phil-morris.html
Tell us what you think, and help us improve next time. Wednesday, 9 January 2008. I think they’re excellent. The pocket size makes them stand out; the design, particularly the illustrations, work well across the different volumes and give them a look of real quality. As a fledgling writer it was a proud moment to see something in print for the first time. And now I want more. Look inside the books. Vol 1 - LANDING. Vol 2 - LIVING. Vol 3 - LONGING. Vol 4 - LOVING. Vol 5 - LEAVING. Publish and. damn!

Tell us what you think, and help us improve next time. Saturday, 12 January 2008. Don't leave home without one. Live and unplanned. happily met at the Bluecoat Display Centre's private view last night - Bluecoat artistic director Bryan Biggs, with his Mersey Mini of the day. Tucked into his coat pocket to while away the odd moment, Bryan is never without a Mini. Top marks and a Fort Knox-ful of gold stars to that man. Look inside the books. Vol 1 - LANDING. Vol 2 - LIVING. Vol 3 - LONGING. Vol 4 - LOVING.

Life in Batland: Chez Crown Prince Harpikuu

Goings-on in Liverpool and Transylvania; publishing, HGVs, nonsense, wolves, bears and chickens. Chez Crown Prince Harpikuu. This faithful subject took part as kitchen skivvy for 5 hours, then transmogrified into an oddity from Sighisoara for the remains of the day. This frightening creature drifted round the lawn like a malign spectre with a large camera, recording evidence for The Dark Prince Harpkikü. Dana Goia on culture. Sedbergh book town events. Life in Batland: Reader's gold star
http://batland.blogspot.com/2007/06/readers-gold-star.html
Goings-on in Liverpool and Transylvania; publishing, HGVs, nonsense, wolves, bears and chickens. We had a great email this morning from Orkney. Gladdens a publisher's heart, this kind of thing. Tom gets a gold star and undying gratitude. I was really impressed with the 'Mersey Minis' book. it is a gem. It's quirky, charming and 'unputdownable'. The woodcuts by Clare Curtis compliment the book so well and give a sense of atmosphere and life to the text.". Tom Muir, Orkney Boat Museum. Dana Goia on culture.

Life in Batland: Story of the week
http://batland.blogspot.com/2008/01/story-of-week.html
Goings-on in Liverpool and Transylvania; publishing, HGVs, nonsense, wolves, bears and chickens. Story of the week. Couldn't resist this story from Ananova: what a fantastic conflict of interests. Mourners shivering in a chapel are to be kept warm using heat generated from cremating their loved ones. The idea will be tried at a crematorium near Manchester where grieving friends and relatives have complained of the cold during services. Http:/ www.ananova.com/news/story/sm 2672129.html? Life in Batland: Hostage to fortune
http://batland.blogspot.com/2008/01/hostage-to-fortune.html
Goings-on in Liverpool and Transylvania; publishing, HGVs, nonsense, wolves, bears and chickens. The idea is that I take a snap of everyone I meet this year. It's my 50th in April, it's my 20th year in Liverpool, and it's Liverpool's year as Capital of Culture. Seems a good time to try. Given my abysmal record of self-discipline, this nice idea might peter out by the end of the week, but you can see for yourself by checking the 2008 PEOPLE blog (see link opposite). Dana Goia on culture. Well kiss my Ringo.
