The journey starts with the question: Which way? Left, middle or along the western coastline. The route depends on where we want to go. This time the west-coast is our destination, so we will go via Carlise. Passing the Motorway M6, we stop at famous Gretna Green. The road along the Eastern coast is a safe way. If there is time, it's nice to visit Alnwick Castle, where parts of the 'Harry Potter' movies have been taken. The entrance-fee is considerably high. Passing some interesting bridges.

There is the ferry-line. Ijmuiden (Amsterdam) - Newcastle. We of course prefer the ferry. It is wonderful to relax while while the ship brings us closer.
