I know many of y'all don't like using wooden decorations, but I just found this great hidey place at petco. My crabs have always loved digging a pit in the corner, and now I can give them privacy, too! It's like a half-log, but it has a point on one end, so it fits in the corner, and it saves space. I also bought a fake branch, it is wire covered in a very thick rubber type material. You can't see or feels the wire at all, its quite nice, and bends well for small tanks. Post a new comment.

Dilema: crabitats

Hello I just cleaned out the crabitat and i made a pond for them. I was wondering if i should fill it with fresh or saltwater:. It is about 2" deep, 9.5" long, and 4" wide. The basin is made of a hospital puke-bucket, that was NOT used. Its deep enough for the crabs to fully submerge, but the ramp also adds a shallow space. Should I add a sponge, or is it unescesary because of the large surface area? Right now there is fresh water in it, the scallop near the lower right corner has saltwater.

I need some advice/help. I just bought my very first hermit crab at the pet store. When I bought him he was very active, walking around, and eating.he was pretty speedy when he would walk around to. Well, I took him home, and he was fine in the car, and he walked around his tank for about an hour and a half that night. Today which is about 2 days later, he is still sitting there. I gave him a cracker and he ate it, but he will not walk around or move at all. Does anyone know what could be wrong with him?
