Terra Incognita: December 2012
http://terralayton.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Dispatches from the other east coast. Thursday, December 27, 2012. Happy Holidays, everybody! We stayed in this little hut:. We ate a lot of fruit and drank fruity drinks:. We found a Christmas tree! And we soaked in the beautiful view:. Oh, did we mention there are little lizards everywhere? They make a lot of noise! Phnom Penh Day 2. I waited forever for someone to move out of the way of this shot, so I am posting it. So freshly cut that the fins on their severed heads were still waving. Scott is a cli...

Terra Incognita: June 2013
http://terralayton.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Dispatches from the other east coast. Monday, June 10, 2013. I have been really terrible about updating my blog for the last five months or so. Total failure. But a lot of that is because in mid-January I bought one of these. And then spent six weeks being super excited, of course, but too sick to do much more than this:. We stayed in this awesome cabin on the side of a big hill. Chun jie kuai le! Year of the Snake! One of the biggest ex pat balls of the year, the Irish Ball was an absolute blast. I've t...

The Lions | In South Africa with IBM Corporate Services Corps
https://craigsouthafrica.wordpress.com/2009/07/29/the-lions
In South Africa with IBM Corporate Services Corps. Craig' News From South Africa. People have been waiting for the lion photos and here. They are. I was a little concerned I wasn’t going to see many lions. They are a little harder to find since they are more active at night and sleep a lot during the day. The photos are proof of that. The lions weren’t as active during the day as the leopards I saw. Laquo; The Zebras. Date : July 29, 2009. Looks like you got what you were looking for. You are commenting ...

African Wild Dogs | In South Africa with IBM Corporate Services Corps
https://craigsouthafrica.wordpress.com/2009/07/30/african-wild-dogs
In South Africa with IBM Corporate Services Corps. Craig' News From South Africa. Wild Dogs are not one of the first things most people think about on seeing on a safari and I didn’t expect them to be so interesting. The African Wild Dog is an endangered species with only four populations in the continent of Africa. One of those is Kruger Park and the surrounding area. I was fortunate to see them twice and see them hunt twice. I saw packs of dogs at both Nagala and MalaMala. Here. Laquo; The Lions.

Kruger’s Birds | In South Africa with IBM Corporate Services Corps
https://craigsouthafrica.wordpress.com/2009/07/31/krugers-birds
In South Africa with IBM Corporate Services Corps. Craig' News From South Africa. I don’t really have the photo equipment for bird photography. The biggest lens I had with me was a 400 mm and you really need to have a 600 mm to be a serious bird photographer. I think I like photographing the leopards better but I did get a few shots of some of the birds. Here. Is a link to the gallery. Date : July 31, 2009. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Nagala Camp | In South Africa with IBM Corporate Services Corps
https://craigsouthafrica.wordpress.com/2009/07/31/nagala-camp
In South Africa with IBM Corporate Services Corps. Craig' News From South Africa. I have mentioned that the safari camps are way out in the bush. Both camps were located at least an hour off the main roads and we drove on nothing by dirt roads to the camps once we got into the reserve. As we drove along it wasn’t uncommon to see animals along side the roads just like when we where on game drives. The open air lounge where everyone gathered before dinner at Nagala. My room, notice the thatch ceiling.
