Welcome to North Wales winter and the finest and most upto date winter conditions blog. Thanks go to Mountain Equipment and DMM for their long term support of the Welsh Winter Scene. Thursday, 5 December 2013. The new season is upon us. Hi and welcome back. My last post back in April does seem a long way off even though its only been 7 months. I had no idea when I embarked with the blog that time between seasons would become shorter. That is the issue, easing off. Not something I am good at. So i...So I ...

Saturday, 17 January 2015. Well its the best we have had for nearly 2 years. So, why this post? Well looking out of the window with the white stuff settling on the ground and receiving another text of another new route, I was inspired to get on the keyboard to share the information. Welcome to North Wales winter and the finest and most upto date winter conditions blog. Thanks go to Mountain Equipment and DMM for their long term support of the Welsh Winter Scene. Saturday, 30 March 2013. Briefly Back and West Face Tryfan News. My own climbing has been a real mixed bag, getting in new routes, failing on new routes, ticking some classics, failing on winter ascents of rock routes and even failing on the odd classic. Found on a more sustained route it would be at least hard V, but it is ...

Welcome to North Wales winter and the finest and most upto date winter conditions blog. Thanks go to Mountain Equipment and DMM for their long term support of the Welsh Winter Scene. Tuesday, 27 November 2012. Lowest snow so far. Monday overnight gave snow fall down to 600m and today it was a lot colder. With temps down to freezing at 500-600m for next few days and at times lower this could be the sign of the mixed action. With the ground so wet, once that freezes it will be quality turf . No sign of any...

Mind you, its only climbing after all, with so many people having been really affected by the weather in view of floods etc. Simple templ...

Torridon 2014 - Cancelled for this year. Scottish Winter climbing meet 2014. Scottish Winter Climbing Meet 14th - 16th Feb 2014. Last winter Fort William was proud to host the inaugural Scottish Winter climbing meet. This weekend meet was organised by local guides and instructors with the support of the Mountaineering Council of Scotland which is helped to promote the event. Current (2009 / 10). Met up with Smiler at Cluanie Inn before dawn. He was determined to the the Five Sisters of Kintail (sorry Jason .) although I was sceptical about the time, given that this is the 2nd equal shortest day of the year! Very cold at the moment, -16 deg as I drove to Kinlochewe overnight. The road to Torridon was quite icy but at least it was a bit warmer down by the sea (-8! I decided to do one of the routes in the recent UK Climbing article on the NW Highlands, Deep South Gully. Good we...

MICHAEL HAY / PHOTOGRAPHY

MICHAEL HAY / PHOTOGRAPHY. The eyes are the doors to the soul, not only with people but with animals as well. You can tell from a horses eyes whether it is meek or challenging, sad or contented, quiet or nervous. This is also true with dogs, what mood they are in today, how they meet situations, people and other dogs. Or cats! I try to get behind the normal picture of cute pets and see the real individual behind. SOME OF MY BEST FRIENDS HAVE 4 LEGS.
