Filed under Gluten free. A summer fling at Bia Hoi. I have to send out a big thanks to Sharking for Chips and Drinks for alerting us to the fantastic Bia Hoi, a ‘summer fling’ on Lygon Street, East Brunswick. Far from the madding crowd at 8th Nerve Cafe. I’m rather jealous of those living north of Bell Street, Coburg. The ‘cafenication’ of Coburg seems to have bypassed my little world, bounded by Reynard Street, Melville, Moreland and Sydney Roads, and made itself at home in the upper reaches of this suburb. With O’Heas Bakery and Deli firmly established in the neighbourhood for many … Continue reading →. A quick breakfast at The Pavilion. How gorgeous is that setting? For old times sake – Half Moon Cafe. A pending move to Canberra for a short secondment opportunity saw us doing the rounds of some of our favourite local restaurants. First stop on our temporary ‘last hurrah’ to Coburg’s eating establishments was Half Moon Café, a local institution for falafels. Surprisingly, or maybe not, I’ve never reviewed Half Moon Café. Wang Wang Dumplings – surprisingly good Chinese in Coburg. Coburg has been bereft of a good Chinese Restaurant for a long as I have been here, so I was very excited to read tummyrumbles review earlier this year of Wang Wang Dumplings, which opened sometime in the last months of 2010, in block of shops on Waterfield Road that is slowly turning into a … Continue reading →. Return of the Weekend Soup! This entry was posted on July 17, 2014, in Food. I haven’t done a weekend soup post for three years! So let’s just say that this is a very irregular series, but a series nonetheless that I’ll try and continue. Being at home for most of winter this year, I’ve been making soups aplenty. The inspiration for this one occurred as I was walking past Zaatar. The Complete Middle East Cookbook. Lentil and silverbeet soup. Adas Bis Silq (Lentil and Silverbeet Soup). 1/4 cup of olive oil.
