Thoughts and experiences of a wandering flyfisherman. Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Finding a new spot is always fun. At this time of year the SE pumps daily, often hitting 18 or so knots. It humps straight across the majority of the flats on Mahe and Praslin. In fact, a strong SE will cause a great deal of frustration and anguish as casts are blown awry and vision is all but destroyed by waves and clouds. It’s the sort of spot written off without a consideration. But we did. And there lay two bonefish on ...

Thoughts and experiences of a wandering flyfisherman. Sunday, October 17, 2010. To seek for something. To go searching is something I think is ingrained in all of us. It’s a primal instinct that we have adapted to a modern world…. I was just watching a Rip Curl Tip 2 Tip video clip. It had Tom Curren and Frankie O on a Search boat for first time since the 1994 Rip Curl Movie – The Search. Isn’t that what we all do? Take a friend of mine. We’ll call him Traveller. Traveller refers to the cor...There is so...

Bonefish on the Brain. Bonefish and all that relates (maybe a bit about tarpon too). Andros 2011 – FIBFest II. Long Island, Bahamas – 2014. Florida – 2014. Abaco – 2015. The Rod vs. The Reel. All the other stuff. Mdash; No Comments. Things on my mind: Tarpon. This video kills me… that big, nasty, beautiful, wonderful school of good sized tarpon and the shot goes begging… which is pretty much true to form. Tarpon are just cool. No way around it. Mdash; No Comments. Yellow Dog gives Hurricane Earl Update.

Bonefish on the Brain. Bonefish and all that relates (maybe a bit about tarpon too). Andros 2011 – FIBFest II. Long Island, Bahamas – 2014. Florida – 2014. Abaco – 2015. The Rod vs. The Reel. No bonefish were harmed in the making of this report, despite days of trying. I cast to 3 bonefish, total. It was brutal. I didn’t catch or hook any, but I needed to make the trip for my own reasons. Not a bad place to get skunked. 3 a day. Awesome. At least there was beer. Oh, and there was rain… lots of rain.

Thoughts and experiences of a wandering flyfisherman. Sunday, April 29, 2012. Some days are just special. The type of morning that is used as a reference point in all future conversations that involve the discussion of good fishing. You really wish they happened whenever you walked out onto the flats. And of course you love to tell everyone about it: "Dude! You should have been here last week! Posted by Fred Davis. Sunday, April 29, 2012. Friday, April 27, 2012. Release. Thoughts and experiences of a wandering flyfisherman. Saturday, March 31, 2012. Eyes for Flies #1. Over the years I've realised more and more the importance of the role of eyes when tying flies. Years ago I used just burn the end of a piece of mono and waalaa, nice tie eyes that looked real enough. These were used on crab, shrimp, creature and any other fly that needed stalk eyes. As far as fresh water eyes went I barely bothered. Only the biggest streamer flies got the most basic black dots. I began in ...

Guided International Fly Fishing Trips | International Angling Destinations
http://www.anglingdestinations.com/Destination_X.php
So why Destination X? It's really quite simple. We spend a great deal of time and money exploring new fisheries. We love this part of our job and since all of us at AD are diehard anglers, we are dedicated to exploring worldwide angling opportunities. For us, that's the fun part of our work! We are left frustrated and yes, a bit angry. It's a maddening thing to see a great fishery exploited often with not even a glance at the proper carrying capacity of the resource. Well, here's an idea. With a nucl...
