Thursday, March 5, 2015. A whole year already! Wow, it's been a whole year since I posted anything on here . holy cow, am I ever slack. Despite all appearances to the contrary, I have actually been quite busy this past year. My cousin and my sister both became grandmothers this past fall! Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Things are starting to settle down . finally! My guild's biennial quilt show was in October. I had hoped to complete a new bed quilt of my own to enter, but that didn't happen. Too busy! I'm not complaining, busy is a good thing. Wednesday, November 3, 2010. I just finished this little wall-hanging last night. It's about 25 x 35". Caused, and now I'm on anti-depressants and sleep meds to try to get the nightmares under control . I'm really looking forward to the day they stop. My local quilt guild has asked me a few times to teach a class on hand-quilting . this is why I've had to say no so far, I'm just not ready. I had already made the heart blocks ( I'm on a mission to use things up this year, scraps, orphan blocks, you name it) and made some 9 patches to go with it. The quilt measures 39" x 41" and i used one layer of Soft and Bright wadding. A small stipple makes the hearts pop. I used Bondaweb for the applique and no other padding (trapunto). Hand Embroidery / Needlework. Friday, 14 August 2015. More Quilting with the Q'nique. I'm a bit later with this post than planned but better late than never! I have been busy playing with my new machine - the Q'nique 14 . What a great time I'm having - it more than makes up for the disappointing summer we have had here in Scotland this year. This was an orphan star block which I added some borders to and quilted. I just filled the whole area with feathers. Also this week, I finished a customer quilt.

It took a while, but I made all the petals and leaves separately and sewed them down whilst the quilt was still on the frame. I stitched the Suffolk puffs down by hand. I will be entering this into my local show later in the year. I always wanted to make a blue and white quilt and now I have. Until then, happy sewing. Blue and white quilt. Hand Embroidery / Needlework. Friday, 12 June 2015. Scrappy Mountain Majesties Quilt. I made this quilt top quite a while ago and decided it was time to quilt it. I first learned this block from a Lynne Edwards book and it was on a smaller scale. This is Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy mountain Majesties. I liked Bonnie's big chunky blocks. I used a variety of fat quarters in warm, rich tones. I watched Lyn Durbin's excellent tutorial Loopy Clams. Here is the link. I love the texture created with this pattern.
