Pam in the 'pan: October 2007
http://paminthepan.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
Pam in the 'pan. Friday, 26 October 2007. The vice principal said, "Pam-chan, Ohayo" today! Which is very informal which means he clearly knows that he reminds me of my dad and has gladly taken that role upon himself. Awwww. I'm trying to think of the funny things my kids have said this week.here are a couple. I have to read them out loud so of course I start laughing when I have to say that one! Another kid wrote "So-and-so is so cute! Which luckily, was written by another girl. Thursday, 25 October 2007.

Pam in the 'pan: Cosby Got Nothing on My Kids!
http://paminthepan.blogspot.com/2008/10/cosby-got-nothing-on-my-kids.html
Pam in the 'pan. Thursday, 23 October 2008. Cosby Got Nothing on My Kids! Some random stories about my crazy kids. As some of you may know, I teach at two very different high schools. One's a high academic school which has a reputation for being "the nerdiest school in Shiga Prefecture" (prefecture = Japan's answer to a state) and the other one is a lower level school with kids who are known for being kinda punky. At my punky school:. On the train yesterday, I saw you! It all looks so good! But then I as...

Pam in the 'pan: January 2008
http://paminthepan.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Pam in the 'pan. Friday, 25 January 2008. To Anyone that says the Japanese have no sense of humor. OMG, this is hilarious! Believe it or not, this guy's stage name is actually "Hard Gay" (in Katakana- Japanese-ized- English). I think it would be too offensive to actually exist in the U.S. but you gotta love his style. If you end up wanting to end every sentence with "Hooooooo! You are not alone! Please tell me your thoughts! I will read them heartily when I get back from Korea! Wednesday, 23 January 2008.

Pam in the 'pan: December 2008
http://paminthepan.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Pam in the 'pan. Monday, 15 December 2008. I heart Santa-san and Reindeer-San! On the 11th grade final exam at my nerd school, I asked my kids what they want for Christmas. Among the iPods, PCs, and book answers were the following:. I want to eat the biggest cake in the world! I would say more than half of my kids said they wanted cake for Christmas. Easily pleased, right? I want as much money as possible because money can buy you everything except love.". Instant cred in my book! I wrote "good luck!

Pam in the 'pan: Imbibing J-style!
http://paminthepan.blogspot.com/2008/07/imbibing-j-style.html
Pam in the 'pan. Saturday, 26 July 2008. Drinking alcoholic beverages, much like in uh, every country, is of utmost importance here. So here are some words to get you through the good times and, if you're like the poor "salary man" (Japanese businessman) above, maybe the bad times! Can anyone read what the key chain says? Literally "drinking" (nomi) "friends" (tomodachi)- basically means drinking buddies. Boozer, someone who drinks a lot. Pot belly/beer belly- what you get if you drink too much! Eg It's ...

http://paminthepan.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Pam in the 'pan. Friday, 31 October 2008. Let's Enjoy a Happy Halloween Time! Happy Halloween, peepz! This year, I'm going as this fine young woman right here:. Gokusen- the Gangster Teacher! She teaches math AND kicks bad guys' butts! So at the end of each exam, I ask the student a "fun" (for me) extra credit question. It helps keep me sane when I'm grading! So the 10th Grade Midterm Exam Question was: "What Halloween Costume would you choose and why? A Ghost. It's very cheap.". Will you go to a party?

Friday, February 1, 2008. So we had our first bona fide meeting of the writing group that I’ve been pushing for the past few weeks. I had a great time, and, unless the other members under the hot interrogation light were lying, so did everyone in attendance. After the meeting, Lakshmi set up this awesome new blog ( scribblescribbles.blogspot.com. Bravo, what words., a remarkable idea. March 14, 2010 at 6:23 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
