Saturday, April 4, 2015. My Experience at the 2015 Madison Writer’s Institute Conference. Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the 26. Annual Madison Writer’s Institute. This was my second time at this conference, and if you are a writer in the Midwest, I highly recommend you check it out! Here are some of the highlights of things I experienced, enjoyed and learned while in attendance. Was a fun keynote speaker. I’d like to check out his books on writing, Is Life Like This? The Unicorn Effect ...

The Scribblerati: Writing: Reading Out Loud
http://thescribblerati.blogspot.com/2014/12/writing-reading-out-loud.html
Saturday, December 6, 2014. Writing: Reading Out Loud. For best results please read this post out loud. But before language was ever written down, it was first spoken. The ability to use language- spoken word- is one of the uniquely human abilities that separate our brains (cerebrums) from that of other animals. According to some sources whatever variety of human beings were walking around on the planet a million years ago were already speaking to one another. So where am I going with all this? When we r...

This is mine: November 2014

Friday, November 28, 2014. Films I'm looking forward to: Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens. My story is no different from many of those like me. I first saw Star Wars in 1977 and my brain exploded. That was it. At that moment, the first of the three Georges ( Lucas. Took up permanent residence in my head. Now, Lucas and I have had our disagreements in the years since, but despite his constant and seemingly deliberate efforts to run me off, the franchise has never really left me. And then they hi...

This is mine: Japanned
http://jon-this-is-mine.blogspot.com/2015/07/japanned.html
Monday, July 13, 2015. You may have heard, my Wife and I went to Japan for ten days. We had a blast, and I took notes. To answer your first question: What was Japan like? Well, it was a lot like this. Since we've been home, I have been writing all about the experience. It was quite the undertaking too, a ten post series! Tokyo wandering. We took the train to Tokyo. We browsed some plastic food. We ate some delicious noodles. We saw some Sumo Champions. I wilted in the heat, and had to...Ela and I go to K...

This is mine: Chasseur
http://jon-this-is-mine.blogspot.com/2015/07/chasseur.html
Wednesday, July 22, 2015. This has been floating around for awhile, but I enjoyed it, so. here ya' go. Written and Directed. and starring, apparently. Christopher Soren Kelly. The premise of this short film is a pretty simple one: A Cajun devil hunter goes to the crossroads and meets the devil's attorney. Which is slight, sure, but. I guess you don't really need too much more than that. It's a good starting place, at least. Try it out. You'll like it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Published in Cifi...

Friday, July 24, 2015. Buckling beneath the unrelenting weight of 60-plus years of long-term continuity, Marvel has finally decided to reboot their entire universe. This is a good thing. I mean, come on, man. the idea that a modern day reader has to be familiar with stories and character histories written thirty to forty years ago is fucking ludicrous. And what is a brand new reader supposed to do? And this gets to the heart of the problem. At least as far as the stories were concerned. And now, what was...

Friday, May 29, 2015. 500 posts. Holy crap. Who would've thought I was capable of talking for so long about so little? Well, probably most people who know me. Whatever, screw those jerks. 500 posts, people! That's a hell of a lot of yammering on my part. Five hundred! It's a nice round number, too, isn't it? Full Complete. Milestone-y. And you know what else? It's also the perfect time to do a little something I haven't done in awhile. What am I up too? How have I been doing? What are my future plans?

The Scribblerati: Japanned
http://thescribblerati.blogspot.com/2015/06/japanned.html
Monday, June 22, 2015. It was supposed to be my turn to post something here at the Scribblerati blog on Friday, but it completely slipped my mind. Super disappointing, I know. My apologies. The good news is, the only reason it slipped my mind is because of my currently very full writing schedule. 1 Our next meeting is on Tuesday, so I need to finish my critique of Shawn. 2 I'm continuing to work on my own WIP. Maybe October is a safer guess. Either way, it continues. To make it easy to find. Later, kids,.

This is mine: MeatBrains
http://jon-this-is-mine.blogspot.com/2015/07/meatbrains.html
Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Is an animated short film created as a graduation project by Bellecour Entertainment. It's about two space bounty hunters whose bank accounts have been hacked by the galaxy's most infamous villain, so they head out to collect some payback. It's in french, but subtitled, so. there's that. Just fyi. That was some pretty good animation, right? The designs were maybe a little too reminiscent of the Borderlands video game series. Not a bad effort. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
