Ramblings of a Television Writer. The One Thing I Learned Applying To The BBC Writers Academy … Twice. April 16, 2011. When I say I applied to BBC Writers Academy. Twice, I mean I. I applied twice. I know I applied last year, as I was fortunate enough to be selected. But I also have a vague recollection of being turned down years ago. Possibly the year the scheme was launched. What’s also likely, is that first time I made the mistake of choosing the wrong writing sample to submit. Fortunately, I didn’t.
