Bob and Caths Spring Break. Friday, March 23, 2012. Late this morning, we visited Suncoast Bird Sanctuary. In Indian Shores. I was a little afraid of seeing injured and rehabilitated birds, fearing a reaction similar to the sadness I felt at the Clearwater Aquarium. The Atlas of Seabirds at Sea (AS@S), pronounced ay-sass, was launched on 16 October 2009, as part of the Save Our Seabirds Festival by BirdLife South Africas Seabird Conservation Programme. To date, 43 observers on 56 cruises have completed 12320 data transects. A total of 78911 birds have been recorded on the AS@S database.
