MarySue's Front Porch: December 2012
http://simplymarysue.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Sustainability is the key to all facets of life.whether it be farming and gardening, camping and kayaking, or simply living on this planet from day to day. Campers, hikers, and lovers of the outdoors have been doing it for years. We call it 'leave no trace'. Slow down for a moment and sit a spell in the rocker on the front porch as I do my best to return my own life to those simpler times. Enjoy your visit, come back as often as you like, and feel free to bring a friend every now and again. You stayed wi...

Anglesey Charity Circumnavigation: Keep Rolling, Rolling, Rolling...
http://ewb-anglesey.blogspot.com/2012/02/keep-rolling-rolling-rolling.html
Small Island, Big Conditions. A 110 km challenge for Engineers Without Borders UK. Monday, 13 February 2012. Keep Rolling, Rolling, Rolling. Managed to crack it this week and I've got a consistent roll. Still, at the moment it's 90% effort and about 10% technique. In fact the first time I did it this week I almost cracked my head on the side of the pool when I came out of the water and almost capsized on the other side! Had to put a high brace in to stop the motion. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Small Island, Big Conditions. A 110 km challenge for Engineers Without Borders UK. Wednesday, 14 March 2012. Short video of some Canoe practice at Herts Canoe Club, just getting used to the GoPro camera and my video editing software. Should be able to get some more exciting stuff whilst Sea Kayaking off the Needles on the Isle of Wight next week! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). There was an error in this gadget. Anglesey Charity Circumnavigation: Completion date.
http://ewb-anglesey.blogspot.com/2012/09/completion-date.html
Small Island, Big Conditions. A 110 km challenge for Engineers Without Borders UK. Sunday, 16 September 2012. I should be able to complete the navigation (Menai Straight / swellies a bit) on Saturday the 29th of September. I'll stay on Anglesey for a bit so I can revisit the dangerous bits for a bit of added "mild peril". It's another spring tide so conditions should be strong and fast. The Thin Line That Leads Us: One Day in Morocco
http://heliospanoptes.blogspot.com/2011/03/one-day-in-morocco.html
Tuesday, 29 March 2011. One Day in Morocco. It's been a while since I was in Africa. Being near Tarifa in Southern Spain at Christmas meant that we couldn't have had a better opportunity to slip across the Straits and visit Tangiers. To be in Morocco is to immerse yourself in what seems at first like an unreal place. Within moments, it seemed as if the natural reserve between strangers had disappeared. At the slightest flicker of a map from a pocket, someone was there, wanting to help. Something else slo...

The Thin Line That Leads Us: Spirited Waters
http://heliospanoptes.blogspot.com/2011/05/spirited-waters.html
Monday, 9 May 2011. Alice before the rain. A while ago now, just as the freeze-thaw was releasing its grip on the north, we took off on another wonderful kayak trip with the sea touring group of the Scottish Canoe Association. These trips have come to be so much more to us than meeting a bunch of kayakers for a paddle. They have become food for the kayaking soul. The scene was set for another great sea kayaking weekend. Towards the northern end of Lismore where a multitude of skerries streak through the ...

The Thin Line That Leads Us: Mountains and Molehills
http://heliospanoptes.blogspot.com/2011/06/mountains-and-molehills.html
Monday, 13 June 2011. The Lowe Alpine Mountain Marathon 2011, Beinn Dearg, Northwest Highlands. Front runners in the B Class. At the start of the Score Class. Slowly, but surely though, you eventually embrace what you have to embrace. The cold, the wet, the never-ending, punishing and relentless terrane. Course-setter Angela Mudge's dog, digging at the start. Moving through awesome landscapes: the distant peaks of Stac Pollaidh and Suilven. Descending the rocky summit of Seanna Bhraigh. Brilliant post...

The Thin Line That Leads Us: June 2011
http://heliospanoptes.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, 30 June 2011. Kayaking off MacLeod's Maidens, Skye. Sea kayaking over the years has proved to be an exquisite blend of serenity, excitement, fear (sometimes, but not always overcome) and wonder bordering on worship for an intimate experience of the blue planet. Even so, there are moments where the blend is just so.well.overwhelming, that you know that the experience is even more amazing. A stream dropping into the sea. Slowly the sea-symphony grew from small beginnings into a crescendo of situa...
