Alaska 2011: Going On A Bear Hunt. Saturday, July 2, 2011. Day 5: Whales and Glaciers. We had a great day on the water with a 6 hour boat ride. Saw 4 bald eagles, 3 types of whales (Fin, Orca, and Humpback), puffins, and sea lions. Also visited several glaciers including one up close. Huge pieces of ice broke off and made thundering noise. Alaska 2011: Going On A Bear Hunt. Saturday, July 2, 2011. Day 6: RVing on the Homer Spit. Drove from Seward to Homer today with a stop in the town of Kenai to see a beautiful little Russian Orthodox Church and happened to run into the priest who gave us a tour and told some jokes. Shopped on the quaint boardwalks along waterfront of narrow piece of land called Homer Spit which is the halibut capital of the world. Bald eagle had his dinner on light pole above our RV.
