Agata Tamulewicz-Downey: June 2013
http://agataonabike.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
A few words on mountainbiking. Friday, 14 June 2013. National Point Series, Rnd. 3 - Hopton Woods, 2nd June. My first British NPS race. The first big race while over here. What to expect? Iām not feeling too well on the day, after having cold for some time, after not riding a bike for a week, after spending 7 hrs in the car a day before. Physically and mentally. But the mood sometimes changes during the race so let's hope it'll do that today. 8221; ā the air escapes from the tyre. Luckily it's ...I’...

Agata Tamulewicz-Downey: April 2014
http://agataonabike.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
A few words on mountainbiking. Friday, 25 April 2014. Easter riding in Ireland. Spring has arrived and the weather encourages to be outdoors, making training easier both physically and mentally. And what a weekend it was! Now, what's funny is that I was talking to the guy organising the Euro Champs afterwards and he said they've used practically all of the singletrack available and they're afraid there will be not enough fireroad sections! It was steeper than it looks like, really! Easter riding in Irela...

A few words on mountainbiking. Wednesday, 7 May 2014. Nationals, Rnd.2 - Wheal Maid Valley, Redruth, Cornwall. Photo by: Andy Whitehouse. First impression: The best XC course I've ridden in the UK. Second impression: I'm moving to Cornwall. I missed the last year's race in Cornwall for some reason that I no longer remember and listening to other people's comments I knew I'd need to ride it this year. Sean going down the second drop. A run up the hill it was so. Or rather, a trot. By that time I was obvio...

Melanie Späth: August 2013
http://melaniespath.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 20, 2013. The day I beat the men elite :). First off, the Ballinrobe 2-day is a handicapped stage race with 3 stages in the beautiful west of Ireland, just north of Galway. Stage 1: hilly 80km loop. Stage 2: 7km flat TT. Stage 3: flat-ish 120km (8 x 15km loop). As a Cat 2 rider I got the choice to either start with the Cat 1/2 men or with the women. I actually thought my legs needed it a bit of an easier start today, so I decided to start with the women. Hanging on for dear life! The TT w...

Melanie Späth: May 2014
http://melaniespath.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 14, 2014. I always wanted a pink bike and pink jersey, so I was so happy when I found a new and happy home at the UK-based WyndyMilla Reynolds Cycle Racing Team. But then I found out I wasn't going to ride on the team's pink bike - no I was going to get my own custom built and custom-pained version of the WyndyMilla "Massive Attack" frame, and also my kit in Irish Champions colours! Uh, ok, I take that! Although it's not ready yet, so I AM riding in pink right now :). Paint (in the UK!

Melanie Späth: November 2013
http://melaniespath.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 23, 2013. Update part 10 - Off season and start into the new training season. In the off-season, Ryan and I spent our first real non-biking, non-working and non-PhDing holiday in Berlin for 6 days, exploring the city and enjoying the culinary scene (that includes kebabs). It was just what we both needed. Enjoying the last of the good weather with friends. Receiving my medals at the CI Awards night from Stephen Roche (photo: Black Umbrella). Friday, November 22, 2013. Before returning h...

Melanie Späth: European XC Marathon Championships 2014
http://melaniespath.blogspot.com/2014/06/european-xc-marathon-championships-2014.html
Tuesday, June 17, 2014. European XC Marathon Championships 2014. I know it's been quiet on my blog for a while, I've got excuses (mainly work eating into my free time and I prefer writing about positive things), but last weekend's European XC Marathon Championships in Ballyhoura deserves a blog post. But depending on the cause it can mean anything between an easy fix and a big operation with lengthly recovery period. Only a scan can bring clarity and I'm now waiting to get scheduled for an arteriogra...

Agata Tamulewicz-Downey: World Cup singletrack - Meribel, France
http://agataonabike.blogspot.com/2014/08/world-cup-singletrack-meribel-france.html
A few words on mountainbiking. Wednesday, 27 August 2014. World Cup singletrack - Meribel, France. The most interesting parts of the courses are rarely accessed by photographers or the camera men so we thought we'd take a few shots of dirt "to remember it by" ;). As always, the camera flattens the course disappointingly, steep drops look tiny, sketchy rock gardens look flat and the roots grippy, so please use your imagination and add a few percent of gradient to what you see here ;). Sean as Lion King.

A few words on mountainbiking. Sunday, 24 November 2013. Merida Brass Monkey Rnd.1. It happened - with Anna Cipullo we've entered the Andalucia Bike Race. 6 days, 400km, 10,000m elevation. And exactly 3 months left. As a preparation to long hours in the saddle at (hopefully) relatively high intensity, I've decided to enter a series of four 4-hour races - Merida Brass Monkeys, and follow them with cycling back home afterwards, for 35-45km. And here goes the first of the Monkeys, 24th Nov 2013. Or mountain...
