Sean in Gambia

Friday, March 9, 2012. A dramatic trip home. At 8:15 in the morning, we were back on the buses heading to the airport. The flight departed right at about noon, touching down in London at 6pm. I took the train back up to St Pancras International and walked to the hostel where I stayed for the night. I slept very well that night! Jet lagged and culture shocked, I'm back, happy, and in one piece. Only a week and a half has passed since I left home.It feels like a lot longer! Monday, March 5, 2012. I hope yo...

Sean in Gambia: Concluding my second visit to Gambia

http://seaningambia.blogspot.com/2012/03/concluding-my-second-visit-to-gambia.html

Monday, March 5, 2012. Concluding my second visit to Gambia. I hope you've enjoyed reading the blogs. I've got quite a few performances already lined up for the end of the month. Check out the performance calendar at www.myspace.com/seankora. I'm anticipating that I will probably experience a bit of reverse culture shock upon arrival in London tomorrow. Then a bit of jet lag to follow the next day after jumping 8 time zones back to Seattle. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A dramatic trip home.

Sean in Gambia: December 2007

http://seaningambia.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 7, 2007. One month until departure. I'm only a month away from heading overseas to Gambia, the smallest country on the African continent that I have talked about visiting in some form or another since the spring of 2005. My original intention at that time was to go to Zimbabwe, a country in the southern region that is home to the mbira. I was fortunate enough to work with a crew based out of Port Angeles. We would travel all around the peninsula doing various forms of maintenance wor...

Sean in Gambia: May 2008

http://seaningambia.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 12, 2008. I'm back safe and sound, in one piece, and happy as can be. I don't think I can quite recall a time that I've been so glad to be home. I've been back for a while now, since the 20th (23rd in Olympia). The flight from Banjul to Dakar was about one and a half hours late leaving (about 11:45pm once we finally left- surprise! Thanks for all of the wonderful comments and emails. I hope to be in touch with many of you soon. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Sean in Gambia: Evening with Malamini, today with Jali Sherifo Konteh

http://seaningambia.blogspot.com/2012/03/evening-with-malamini-today-with-jali.html

Sunday, March 4, 2012. Evening with Malamini, today with Jali Sherifo Konteh. That's it for this post. Tonight or tomorrow morning, I'll produce my last recording, a duo of Moriba and I playing Kora, and then up to Radio Gambia in the morning to try to find some cassette recordings of Jali Nyama Susso. Then probably off to Lamin's in Jambanjelly for the night. Tuesday- to the airport! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A dramatic trip home. Concluding my second visit to Gambia.
