Working in Seoul

Monday, December 5, 2011. The other weekend, I took a couple of days of work to go on vacation to Taiwan. I went with Juan Jose, a foreign exchange student that I met in Korea. In Taiwan, we met up with a couple of Juan Jose's friends who had offered us a free place to stay. More importantly, they also spoke Mandarin. The upside to Taipei's underdevelopment was the prices. For our first meal, we ate fairly well for the equivalent of under $2! Thursday, November 10, 2011. Earlier in the week, I had been a...

Working in Seoul: May 2011

http://seaninseoul.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 13, 2011. Hello, and welcome to my Korea blog! On June 8th, I am flying out from Atlanta to begin a 6 month internship with Kotra in Seoul, Korea's capital. Kotra is a major Korean company which introduces oversees buyers to domestic businesses. Working abroad is sure to be quite an adventure, and I'll be updating often with pictures and stories documenting my time in Seoul. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Working in Seoul: June 2011

http://seaninseoul.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 17, 2011. End of Week 1! I’m less than an hour away now from wrapping up my first week at the office and being free for the weekend. Having now been in Seoul for just over a week, I couldn’t be happier about the ease of my transition. I have a great apartment, a cell phone, a (so far) good job, a small network of American friends, and a couple of Korean friends. I could not hold back my laughter. If you were like me and had no idea who this guy is, I encourage you to type “Brian Mc...I went ...

Working in Seoul: Eating Living Squid in Pusan!

http://seaninseoul.blogspot.com/2011/09/eating-living-squid-in-pusan.html

Friday, September 16, 2011. Eating Living Squid in Pusan! I had Monday and Tuesday off this week in celebration of 주석. Korea’s version of Thanksgiving. For the holiday I went South to Pusan, Korea’s second biggest city located off the coast of the East China Sea. Pusan is a beautiful place with great beaches and delicious seafood. By far the most memorable experience I had there was eating 산낙지. I went to grab one with my chopsticks and it wrapped itself around the tip in a stranglehold. Eating Living Squ...

Working in Seoul: Remembering Korean Names

http://seaninseoul.blogspot.com/2011/10/remembering-korean-names.html

Wednesday, October 12, 2011. Korea is a different story. Often I will pay full attention, but despite my best efforts, the conversation will go something like this:. New Korean Friend) Hello, nice to meet you, my name is Kim Kyung Hwan (note: Koreans usually introduce themselves with their whole names, and their surname comes before their given names, unlike English). Me) Hi, nice to meet you Kyung Hwan, my name is Sean. New Korean Friend) Ah, sorry, not Kyung Hwan, Kyung Hwan. Uh, sorry. Kyung Hwan.

Sean's Trip to Paris

Sean's Trip to Paris. April 15, 2010. So I realize it has been a while since I have shown signs of existence on this blog. Let me explain why. Thankfully, my sanity was refreshed over Easter, mid-way through crunch time. A friend of mine here in France invited me and another Canadian girl (who figures earlier in this blog as the Carleton student who met my mother), to stay at her family house in the French countryside outside of Chartres, 2 hours Southwest of Paris. What an amazing weekend! My classes di...

Sean in South America

Sean in South America. Friday, November 21, 2008. Blogging at warp speed. OK so where did I leave off? Blew stuff up. Went through the desert on a horse with no name (just kidding, it was actually a 4D/3N 4WD tour from Uyuni to San Pedro de Atacama, Chile). Saw geysers, flamingos, and sat on top of my guitar in the salt flats. Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Truckin': Trujillo- Mancora- Lima- Arequipa. After two weeks in Trujillo, I headed up the North coast of Peru to the lovely (and warm! Place for Peruvian...
