seashells and starfish

Friday, January 25, 2008. Changi beach park intertidal walk. On 23rd January 2008, I went to Changi Beach Park for a intertidal walk. November. Was our guide for the day. We found lots of different marine animals, such as starfish, jellyfish, sea anemone, sea hares and hermit crabs. We even found a starfish with a regenerating arm. I accidentally put a button shell with a hermit crab inside it together with a starfish, and the starfish almost ate the hermit crab up! Labels: Starfish at Changi.

A Timepiece named Chek Jawa Batik. 169; TANG Portfolio. 2014 has proven to be an exceptional good year for friends of Pulau Ubin and Chek Jawa as it comes to a close. It is as if the best has been left for the last. Ubin Day marked its place of significance in our local calendar on the 30. I left Pulau Ubin that day with happy memories too but unbeknownst to me my happiness would escalate a hundredfold as I read the news back at home. Workin...

It is simply the saddest sight in CIAG (City In A Garden) and it hurts. But what awaits the fate of the remaining trees fringing Plaza By The Park along Bras Basah Road?

Young Writers for A Better World. Tuesday, May 22, 2012. Chek Jawa: Just One Day in May 2012. The diversity of marine creatures witnessed by participants of our guided intertidal walks at Chek Jawa in May 2012 were amazing if not star-studded. Showcased below are findings in just one such walk. Enjoy! A rare Spiny sea star amongst the regular sea cucumbers, sea snails, crabs and shrimps. And an A-list must-see Seahorse. Besides the usual Flathead and Catfish, we found a Toadfish. Thank you, Chek Jawa : ).

Young Writers for A Better World. Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Gordonia penangensis: A Treasure on Keppel Island. Standing wild and free on the northern face of Keppel Island is a veritable grove of native trees of undisputed rarity and antiquity. It is really a miracle how they could have survived against the relentless pace of urban and economic development engulfing them from all sides. Yet they did. It was just a tiny island with a shack or two and a small untidy wharf on its southern shore. Over...

Saturday, July 13, 2013. Hello See you later. For the past month now I start a new post, and then delete it. I have so much to write about but can't seem to actually write about it, hopefully this one will make it! It's been an extremely overwhelming, weird, busy wave of "hello, I love you, see you later" around here lately and I'm still trying to figure it all out. I mean we've been doing this for awhile now, but this is the first time the underways are so long, and the time home is so short. Our neighb...

Seashells and Southern Belles

Friday, October 4, 2013. Tons of shells to look through! Headed over to the ocean side. Loads of broken conch shells. I call the area between the sound side and the ocean side of the Cape a conch shell's graveyard. There are tons of shells in there, but the ocean is cruel when the tide comes up. And this gem is something I picked up out there. I think it's a stingray skeleton. When the sun finishes bleaching out, it's gonna look really pretty in my basket of odd beach finds! Roasted Carrot "French Fries". Posted on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. Let's take a moment to welcome this healthy "french fry" option with open arms.
