The Fleeting Disappointment of Defeat. February 4, 2015. I’ll never forget the first time I ever witnessed one of my favorite sports teams endure a bitter, unexpected defeat. The date was May 7. 1994 It was a Saturday and I was at a friend’s house. He was the catcher on our Little League team, the Orioles, and I was one of two pitchers on the squad. We’d played a game that morning, and immediately after we went back to his place to watch basketball. Continue reading The Fleeting Disappointment of Defeat.

Top 11: Most Randomly Awesome Seattle Mariners Of All-Time. July 2, 2009. How about the most randomly awesome players in team history? Guys who, for one reason or another, were beloved by fans for the strangest of reasons. Those honorable few who put together sub-par careers and hinted at mediocrity, yet still managed to hold down a roster spot for an extended period of time. Players who, had the M’s not spent years flirting with futility, may never have even put on a major league uniform. Schooler was r...

Mariner enthusiasm and random Fleming thoughts: December 2010
http://joshfleming.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Mariner enthusiasm and random Fleming thoughts. Thursday, December 30, 2010. 2010 year in review. From a Seattle sports perspective, not the best. The year started off with the highest of all expectations for the Mariners, potential World Series representation. Instead we finished as one of the worst teams in all of major league baseball. Felix Hernandez did win the Cy Young award, so we do have that going for us as we enter 2011. We do better as a team in odd years anyway. Wednesday, December 29, 2010.

Mariner enthusiasm and random Fleming thoughts. Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Open day, 2 days away. I have not come close to the amount of posts from last year. Last year, the Mariners were going to win the World Series and all of the world's problems were going to be solved. This year, who cares. Of course, we still have no offense but the pitching will be outstanding! Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Trade talks around Felix. Why Felix and why now? Right now, Ichiro has the value of bringing fans to the ballpark...

The Big Picture: Sports Fans We Love to Love
http://zachls.blogspot.com/2009/06/sports-fans-we-love-to-love.html
Monday, June 22, 2009. Sports Fans We Love to Love. A while back our pals at Seattle Sportsnet. Made a fantastic list of the sports fans we love to hate. And then followed it up with part two. While hate is normally in our blood, the sun is shining, the halter tops are out and summer has officially begun; those things put us in a happy place. So rather than discussing the common sports fans we hate, we thought we'd put out there the ones we love. 7 The Radio Listener. Patient; happy-go-lucky; has solo se...

Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Golden Tate: Seattle Seahawks' Hitman Poster Boy - CBS Local. Credit: Otto Greule Jr/Getty Images). Golden Tate, WR #81. 5â10â³. You know Pete Carrollâs philosophy has taken firm hold when an underachieving wide receiver known more for lazy routes and late-night doughnut runs becomes the Seahawksâ poster boy for big hits. But thatâs where Golden Tate sits this week after his head-snapping, cleat-lifting block against Dallas linebacker Sean Lee on Sunday. There has ...

Hisashi Iwakuma’s Happy Day. August 12, 2015. Mariners pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma throws a no-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles at Safeco Field, Wednesday August 12, 2015. (Bettina Hansen / The Seattle Times). Why don’t they let Iwakuma play more? Well, I’d explain, they only let starting pitchers play every five days. It’s just kind of how they do things in baseball. They don’t want him getting hurt. He plays as much as he’s allowed. When she passed away in September. August 10, 2015. This and more in t...
