Seattle to SanFrancisco

Thursday, August 27, 2009. 1 Month, 1000 Miles. This blog is a record, made via cheapo cell phone camera and keypad, of our September/October 2008 bicycle tour from Seattle, Washington to San Francisco, California made on an antique Schwinn Paramount tandem bicycle while pulling our 55 pound dog Bruno behind us in a trailer. Bruno has asked me to add that he got out and helped to pull us up ALL the hills. Saturday, October 11, 2008. Time for a shower. Feels really weird to be in a car. 1 mile to go.

Seattle to SanFrancisco: Where to camp?

http://www.seattletosanfranride.blogspot.com/2008/10/where-to-camp.html

Sunday, October 5, 2008. Rolling in late to benbow for camping. it was a good long day with gradual improvements in both mood and weather. Rode 30 mile avenue of the giants today - beautiful! Would only be better going the other way. Downhill. Time for a shower. 1 mile to go. Its cold lets go! At manchester state beach. End of a crazy day. Back at the pacific at last. The big ones behind us. Sharons pretty amped about that bridge. Rainy day in arcata. Wow moment number 739. Cleaning out the cleats.

Back at the pacific at last. The big ones behind us. Sharons pretty amped about that bridge. Rainy day in arcata. Wow moment number 739. Cleaning out the cleats. Stuck in the mud. Seattle to SanFrancisco: The big one's behind us

http://www.seattletosanfranride.blogspot.com/2008/10/big-ones-behind-us.html

Tuesday, October 7, 2008. The big one's behind us. At the crest of the pass south of leggett. 1800 ft. Bruno helped to pull the entire way! It was an awesome 15 mile descent after. We stopped to let the brakes and the wheels cool down, to avoid meltdown at high speed. This was followed by an even steeper 3 mile torturefest. But well worth it, as we coasted coastward. Time for a shower. 1 mile to go. Its cold lets go! At manchester state beach. End of a crazy day. Back at the pacific at last.

People Think Our Lives Are Fascinating: January 2010

http://ptolaf.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 29, 2010. I wonder what percentage of people partially or completely ignore the bay bridge metering lights? Again today the car ahead of me stopped where they were supposed to, and then just went. The light hadn't turned green. I think it's because to everybody else it makes them look like they're not blowing off the light. A more subtle act of entitlement in that they know they're not entitled and don't want everybody else to see that they think they are. Links to this post. The other da...

People Think Our Lives Are Fascinating: Day Light Savings Time/Mouth Noises

http://ptolaf.blogspot.com/2010/03/day-light-savings-timemouth-noises.html

Tuesday, March 16, 2010. Day Light Savings Time/Mouth Noises. In general, I think this whole day light savings thing is a big waste of everything. How many people either get more tired than normal or miss important meetings due to this clock change? And for what, exactly? For farmers, I guess. I hope for them it's something that is useful. People Think Our Lives Are Fascinating: February 2009

http://ptolaf.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Saturday, February 7, 2009. We walked around our hood today and stopped to have a cup of the best hot chocolate in town. I also noticed two three bedroom houses for rent all within ten blocks of us. One for $3500 and another for $2950. Don't those rents seem a little high to you? In other news my honeypot's been sick the past couple of days. My poor honeypot. Links to this post. People Think Our Lives Are Fascinating: July 2009

http://ptolaf.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 26, 2009. It's been a week since I lasted posted and I was sure a week ago that we would be so busy with our new bundle of joy that I wouldn't be posting for that reason. Well, I have not delivered yet. I'm now officially 1 week overdue from my ultrasound date of July 19th. Our daughter is firmly a Leo now (so much for being a Cancer). All the predicted dates of delivery by various friends has passed. The only other fun date is July 26th, which is my mother-in-law's birthday. That wo...I too...

http://ptolaf.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 21, 2010. Maddie and I on a Trip to Japan? I'll just bring her with me. So, I was thinking of going to Japan. It's the cleanest and most modern place I would like to currently travel to and I think it's the best choice for Maddie. After talking to several coworkers "in the know" on Friday all of them said "Yes, you should totally go. You won't have any problems being there and getting around with the baby.". Am I crazy enough to actually go? I'm confident it will be a whole new experience.

Friday, March 26, 2010. NY Times Article on the ridiculously high rate of Csections. Http:/ www.nytimes.com/2010/03/24/health/24birth.html? I love this quote:. 8220;We should do inductions for good solid medical reasons, not for convenience or the day of the week,” Dr. Macones said. “Sometimes patients push you.”. He's suggesting that it's the consumer asking for this! As if I'm sure there are some pockets of people who want to schedule their birth, but I cannot believe that it's very much. I noticed she...

People Think Our Lives Are Fascinating: October 2009

http://ptolaf.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 23, 2009. I'm one of those parents that think that babies understand a lot more than we give them credit for. This is why I try to keep a near constant chatter going of what we're doing where we're going, etc. I sing the bus song with Maddie a couple times a day and move her arms with the song. ("The wheels on the bus go round and round.) She loves it! This is why I'm really loving having Maddie in my life. It's so amazing to watch her learn and be herself. Links to this post. People Think Our Lives Are Fascinating: Standing Up And On The Move

http://ptolaf.blogspot.com/2010/04/standing-up-and-on-move.html

Tuesday, April 13, 2010. Standing Up And On The Move. Maddie can now pull herself up to standing from sitting. It's pretty impressive to watch. She still gets pretty excited by it. Yesterday was the first time I saw her do this and she got so excited that she fell over. It was really adorable (even though it was hard to watch her get frustrated when she realized that she wasn't standing anymore). Labels: madelyn violet fairbanks. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). People Think Our Lives Are Fascinating: September 2009

http://ptolaf.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Wednesday, September 2, 2009. 5 weeks and 2 days ago you were born. I can't believe 5 weeks have passed already and I can't believe that it's only been 5 weeks! I feel like in the past couple weeks I've finally mostly gotten the hang of this Mom thing. I feel like most of the time I can fix whatever is making Madelyn unhappy. Most of the time. And during those times when I can't, it tears me up inside. Links to this post. Labels: madelyn violet fairbanks. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Erika's having a baby.

Seattle to San Francisco May 2015

Seattle to San Francisco May 2015. Thursday, 18 June 2015. For a special treat, exit via the San Gregorio General Store. We resolved to scoot east, through the fog, to get over the bridge before the Friday afternoon traffic, to be positioned to get comfortably to the airport at the end of the day. so east we went. Heading for Half Moon Bay, south, down the coast from the city. Where we saw the carpark overflowing at Sam's Chowder House. And took that as a good sign. We were pretty well camera-ed out.
