Northwestern Artist: Christmas of a Down
http://northwesternartist.blogspot.com/2012/12/christmas-of-down.html
Sunday, December 23, 2012. Christmas of a Down. Today, the Norwegian, electronic musician Binärpilot, released his Christmas gift upon the world- a free remix of System of a Down's "Vicinity of Obscenity" off of their "Hypnotize" album. After listening to it, I was inspired to create a mashup cover to go with it. Enjoy! The artwork is now the official cover on the song's Soundcloud page! Click for full version]. Original artistic elements are by Vartan Malakian (overall painting), Jim R.

Northwestern Artist: New skateboard commission, first steps
http://northwesternartist.blogspot.com/2012/06/new-skateboard-commission-first-steps.html
Sunday, June 17, 2012. New skateboard commission, first steps. A few days ago, my good friend Ethan came over, with a selection of skateboards. He was visiting his creative friends, giving them skateboards to paint on with full creative license. Just like the last commission. I readily accepted. Below is the first steps I've taken today. Close at 0:25, you can see a corner of the last commissioned board "under his chin"). Vinyl gloves and thin rice paper]. I sprayed the board with a layer of black paint,...

Northwestern Artist: Board Reveal
http://northwesternartist.blogspot.com/2010/10/board-reveal.html
Thursday, October 14, 2010. This post is Ethan-friendly, because if this is posted, then he's seen the completed works, and now all of you. Get to see it. If you are lost about the references, check out the first post. Also, the idea of me even wanting to paint on skateboards was originally inspired by the amazingly wonderful Tran Nguyen when she painted a skateboard here. Tran, you are so awesome! If you're too lazy or focused on this. Original sketches during one of my meals. Before I went to painting,...

Northwestern Artist: December 2011

Sunday, December 25, 2011. Christmas Special: Doctor Who (gift box). I know that I may get a lot of random traffic because of this tag, but you won't be disappointed! For a little Christmas gift, I crafted a very small TARDIS, "pop-up" box. From the beginning I knew I wanted it to be handmade, and have a flap or something that made it look "bigger on the inside." I have never done paper engineering before, beyond a few Valentine's and birthday cards, so this was completely new for me. Rough instructions ...

Northwestern Artist: July 2012
http://northwesternartist.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 27, 2012. This technically all started when I was at the La Conner Quilt and Textile Museum a few weeks ago, drinking cups of black, uncreamed and unsweetened coffee- and liking it. Since then Ive tried (and also liked) the drink titled Shot in the Dark, and black coffee at other places. The other day, I mentioned my new-found conversion to the taste of black coffee on Twitter. The resulting conversation was full of ridiculous images, and it inspired me to illustrate it. Links to this post.

Seattle Whist Club
Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Yesterday my particular lady friend and I went to Café Mox. For the weekly Seattle Steamrats. Meetup. I want to start making connections with people in the scene and start teaching Whist. Again My plan is to create a few more players before Steamcon. So that I can organize a drive at the convention. In the end I didn’t teach anyone how to play but I did discuss the game with a few folks. In particular was a short conversation with folks from Rise of Æster. Posted by Brendan Leber.
