Second Chances by Susan

Thursday, July 16, 2015. I love gingham, and apparently I'm not the only one according to these sources. Considering my affection for gingham, I was thrilled to find this dress on "half price dresses" day. I loved the turquoise and black color and the velveteen covered buttons, but it did have a few issues, as noted. I used a commercial pattern to cut new sleeves and armholes, then reattached them to the bodice. I cut about 7" off the length and hemmed it with a small rolled hem. I like to link to these.

Second Chances by Susan: February 2015

http://secondchancesbysusan.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Stripes Are A Good Thing.Part Two! If youve been following along, youll remember from Stripes Are A Good Thing.Part One. That it all began with an oversized blue dress and a mens polo shirt. Part one ended with this dress. Next is part two, using the leftovers. Which resulted in this skirt. A fun, comfortable skirt with patch pockets on the front. A buttoned slit at the back. And, stripes down the side. It was beautiful, but slightly windy day at the Oregon beach! Dollar Store...

Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Stripes Are A Good Thing.Part One! The end result was this. Keep reading for the step-by-step on how it was done. At this point, the refashion could be finished, but I wanted the neckline a little higher, plus I thought the added detail would be nice. Pretty simple, very comfortable, and the best part.enough fabric left over to make a skirt! I like to link to these. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Refashion Runway: Season Four. The All-Star Edition! Second Chances by Susan: A Pleasant Peasant Dress

http://secondchancesbysusan.blogspot.com/2015/04/a-pleasant-peasant-dress.html

Monday, April 20, 2015. A Pleasant Peasant Dress. An ongoing refashion series inspired by the 40's, 50's, and 60's. This is probably one of the simplest refashions I have done lately. In fact, it was so simple, I failed to take any process photos, so you'll just have to use your imagination! I came across this picture awhile ago and liked the combination of denim and sheer together. I kept it in the back of my mind whenever I shopped at the thrift stores. I stitched the two rectangles together, gathered ...

Saturday, August 23, 2014. My Sewing Studio: The Aqua Hutch. Of all the projects in my sewing studio. This one has to be my favorite! I was searching for something that could do double duty.storage and table space. I came across this two-piece gem at a used furniture store for.drum roll please.only $15! My husband and son helped me attach it to the wall by screwing it to the studs. I found some baskets on clearance at JoAnn's that fit perfectly with my color scheme. The cupboards below are perfect fo...

Sunday, November 2, 2014. Halloween turned out to be a busy season. Costumes, costumes, costumes and face painting galore. Three parties, and a bunch of happy little pumpkins. It was a whirlwind amazing time, but. I am tired. I had the best intentions of posting some tutorials, but all I have to offer are some random before and after photos. Enjoy. A friend's daughter brought over her old costumes. And I refashioned her a mermaid costume. What a cutie! Labels: DIY mermaid costume. Div class="Feeling-Kind...

Bali Fabric- Ball Dress. Stash Busting Style Arc Top →. May 30, 2015. In the Burda Style magazine I have , January 2015, this pattern grabbed my attention as soon as I saw it:. It is a fun style interesting and unusual. The search was on for the perfect fabric. I found this great printed sheer the colors were almost textural, so I made a wearable muslin from it:. The pattern pieces are a little interesting in shape and its really important to accurately mark the cutting lines for the front and back.
