Opprobrious: August 2009
http://opprobrius.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 22, 2009. So we rent out our old house in town. The renter that was living there moved out in August and I found the old building was in need of repair. Part of the roof had blown off, and had been leaking into the house when it rained. The ceilings were ruined in two and a half rooms and the floors in the bathroom, kitchen and the back utility porch needed to be replaced. Let me tell you, with a more than full time job, doing major repair on a house you are not living in, is TOUGH!

Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Three Rules Of Life. As I enter the winter of my life. ok the winter of the year, I grow more introspective. What, I ask myself, what wisdoms would I have liked to share with my children if they had not run off and joined the carnival. (Ha! The joke was on them, it was a community Halloween carnival and not a traveling band of lovable freaks and pedophiles. LOSERS! Wednesday, October 7, 2009. Why Cris, old boy! What the devil are you doing up and on your blog at 5:30am? Well De...

Opprobrious: Fictional Tale of Working Man Woes

Saturday, January 5, 2013. Fictional Tale of Working Man Woes. The rancid odor of heavy Cajun spices spewed into my face as he leaned into my personal space. "What the hell do you think you're doing? 8221; He demanded like a Drill Sargent at basic. “Blowing my nose? 8221; “Hell yes, blowing your goddamn nose! No reason to be afraid of talking about your pecker while you still got one! You DO still have one, don’t cha? 8221; he leaned in close again to ask the final question. The conversation had gone...

Bookcracker: Hello again
http://bookcrackers.blogspot.com/2008/12/hello-again.html
A blog about books and writing. Monday, December 08, 2008. I've let this blog languish for more than another year, while I worked on a novel. That novel is with an editor at the moment, so while I wait for some kind of response, I thought I'd check back in. I'm blogging also at WinedalePorchscape. But that's a general blog with photographs. A couple of quick notes on books:. The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. The Art of Racing in the Rain. What has happened to the gonzo novelists? Other than the fact they've m...

Goodreads - BOOK REVIEWS. Rotten tomatoes - MOVIE REVIEWS. Wednesday, December 10, 2008. One - ok, a couple of bad apples. Apparently Illinois has a "long tradition" of corruption in the government, most recently with former Governor George Ryan, currently in jail on a six-year sentence (also for corruption) and with some officials moving for his sentence to be commuted. Now people are talking like Illinois is a haven for corrupt officials, and how glad they are to not be residents of this state. Ever si...

Goodreads - BOOK REVIEWS. Rotten tomatoes - MOVIE REVIEWS. Friday, May 29, 2009. I want a new drug. I never really thought of myself as a junkie, but with re-runs of Jon Stewart. This week, I've been letting the TV drift to MSNBC and watching some of their hosts. My wife can't stand Chris Matthews. I find all the yelling and talking-over-each-other very disagreeable as well. Keith. Get kinda old - even if the material is topical and poignant. Is the most tolerable. Central. Stewart pointed it out him...

Goodreads - BOOK REVIEWS. Rotten tomatoes - MOVIE REVIEWS. Thursday, December 24, 2009. My wife and I rarely head out to the movies, although we are both big fans. Of the movie industry and some TV shows. We satisfy our entertainment needs mostly with what's available on our cable TV (with some tv shows and movies "on demand"), although we are continuing with Netflix. At a much reduced frequency lately). One of those vending machine DVD rental dealios. Our most recent free rental was Up. For parents that...

Goodreads - BOOK REVIEWS. Rotten tomatoes - MOVIE REVIEWS. Saturday, January 12, 2013. Life gets in the way. Sorry this blog has been so inactive. Had a lot to say, and then once I got started on Facebook. I left most of it there. Not exactly a forum for enriching discussion, but was able to vent most of what I needed. A little more conducive than some other sites that limit to, say, 140 characters. But definitely the wrong place for a manifesto (although I will link it there). Hint, this means YOU, MOM!

Goodreads - BOOK REVIEWS. Rotten tomatoes - MOVIE REVIEWS. Wednesday, February 11, 2009. Oh, I had such high hopes for the next several weeks. While the wife is away, the mouse was fully intending to play. I even made the sacrifice. Persistent that I had been really crooked in my posture. So. Much so, that a couple of days later a whole 'nother group of muscles went into spasm - I guess from overcompensation. And then I aggravated all that by helping my wife haul the laundry around. Thankfully sh...In th...
