For Students and Families. Second Helpings relies on 700 regular volunteers to fight hunger in our community. Volunteers chop vegetables and cook meals in our Hunger Relief kitchen. They deliver food to recipient agencies and lend their expertise to office operations. Volunteers also share Second Helpings’ story and impact in the community. Each of these volunteers brings an enthusiasm for our community and a desire to combat the insidious impact of hunger. We will contact you with orientation dates.

Each day, Second Helpings volunteers and staff rescue. Prepared and perishable food from wholesalers, retailers and restaurants — preventing unnecessary waste. That rescued food is used to create 4,000 hot, nutritious meals each day that are distributed to 80 social service agencies that feed people in need. The Second Helpings Culinary Job Training.
