Desert Light
http://www.econesting.com/2015/04/08/desert-light
My first memory is of light the brightness of light light all around. Georgia O’Keeffe. It struck me the minute I stepped off the plane. That light! After spending hours in airless airports, I thought I landed in a foreign country. At first glance, the Albuquerque landscape seemed barren, thirsty dry and dramatically not green, like my east coast home, that had finally begun to recover from the depths of winter. Sounded a wake-up call in unison. I knew it would be dry, but was it supposed to be bone-dry?

About Judith A. Ross. Asymp; 10 Comments. A friend recently sent me this link. To an article about forest bathing, which says,. This Japanese concept revolves around a deceptively simple practice: quietly walking and exploring, with a mind deliberately intent on and all senses keenly open to every sound, scent, color and feel of the forest, in all its buzzing bio-diversity. I let the forest feed my soul. How often are our minds and bodies in the same place? Forest bathing, opening ourselves to feel the g...
Taking Flight, Again
http://www.econesting.com/2015/07/21/taking-flight-again
Taking Flight, Again. Peering around the corner from my summer office, the screened-in porch, I watched the building take shape. My front door, with its lopsided entrance, one light adorned with twigs and branches, the other naked, winked daringly to keep my distance. It reminded me not to leave behind my work utensils on the commute from kitchen to porch. Then came a soaking rainstorm. In the early morning hours, the summer sky opened to a deluge of windswept water. When the riot subsided, I tip...A few...

About Judith A. Ross. Having a Senior Moment? Asymp; 3 Comments. For weeks now, I’ve been trying to recall the name of a landscape architect I worked with a few years ago. I’ve remembered her first name, but her last name continues to elude me, yet I’m sure it’s there lurking somewhere within the deepest, tallest stacks of my brain’s library. New York Times,. Pollution May Age the Brain,. I sat up and took notice. Read more ….). Asymp; 10 Comments. A friend recently sent me this link. For a dreamer like ...

About Judith A. Ross. Asymp; 4 Comments. Ours was not a love at first sight. On a bright winter’s day, I trudged through knee-deep snow to greet you. It wasn’t until late spring, however, that I agreed to see you again. I have since learned to appreciate your modest looks and embrace your efficient and can-do approach to life. As the years passed, I helped you buff up your rough edges, gave you one or two makeovers, and then watched your quiet beauty emerge. In return, you protected me through more physi...
