Kristie Macrakis was born and raised in Boston, MA. She spent several years in divided Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall as a student. After receiving her Ph.D in the History of Science from Harvard University she spent another year in Berlin after unification. She is professor at Georgia Tech in Atlanta ( macrakis@gatech.edu.
