A high school track and swimming star, Amy, now a 34 year-old welder and mother of two, lost her left leg below the knee following a 1994 motorcycle accident. Three years and twenty-five surgeries later, her left leg was amputated below the knee. Following the amputation, it took 3 years before Amy could even try to run again. In 2004, despite only having a walking prosthesis and being 5 months pregnant with her second child, Amy entered the Silver Strand Marathon and came in 2nd place in her division.

The Ultraman World Championships. The Ultraman World Championships is a 3-day, 320-mile (515-kilometer) individual ultra-endurance event which takes place on the Big Island of Hawaii. Entry is limited to 40 participants and is by invitation only. Founded in 1983, the event is held annually on the traditional Thanksgiving weekend. As I get ready to head out to Kona with my family we make our routine stop to see Mike at Babylon Bike in order to get my bike tuned up before the big race.

My adventures on the run. Friday, October 8, 2010. Ashley and I went to Zion right before Skye was born and had the best time! 160; There was hiking, knitting, eating, and many Germans. We hiked observation point, which is an 8 mile hike at the north end of the canyon, at it’s highest point you can see the whole canyon, and it is absolutely beautiful. The hike up is crazy steep but you are rewarded along the way with beautiful slot canyons and cliffs. Surprise of many tourists. Sunday, April 19, 2009.
