Sisyphus Took My Rock. Not sure if I want it back or not. It has been a while since my last post, but I am going to do my best to get back on it. Since my last post, I have run at a nuclear facilty, been to Canada, raced in the Crescent City Classic twice, and have been prepping for Summer solstice 2009. More to follow soon. Laquo; A week of firsts. Date : April 22, 2009. Define “soon”. 🙂. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.

Where ideas come from | Gone Somewhere
https://bigrahn.wordpress.com/2008/06/01/where-ideas-come-from
Going…Going…Going…Gone! Where ideas come from. As you know, last weekend I had some serious knee problems. Getting up on Tuesday, my knee was still throbbing enough that I decided to take the week off. (I did some stretching, but no running or walking.). Now, this is all well and good, but without actually doing anything, a couple things happen:. The second idea is all about my knee and the Darkside marathon course. Because the course is essentially flat, it’s perfect for walking. And by wa...The next 3M...

Walking on… | Gone Somewhere
https://bigrahn.wordpress.com/2008/05/17/walking-on
Going…Going…Going…Gone! Bet y’all thought I’d have nothing to say about walking? Well, there is plenty to say, but I’ve been a bit busy. I’ve headed out a few times during lunch this week and managed some miles walking. It’s definitely a different pace than I’ve been doing. I’m doing 13-14 minute miles, in sort of a not-quite-trot/not-quite-walk gait. I’m guessing that if I keep this up, I’ll be looking good by next summer. In Portland Oregon. It was a 2.5 day event, where Phillip Dunn. So, although I...

Accidents Happen | Gone Somewhere
https://bigrahn.wordpress.com/2008/05/13/accidents-happen
Going…Going…Going…Gone! Note: This is the article for this months RunnersFit. They say that most accidents happen within five miles of home but usually the victim knows what caused the accident. That was not the case for my dear friend Left Knee (LK for short). The accident happened about three weeks ago while on a casual run down the street, but the details are a bit sketchy. That’s a bad race walking joke, since one of the rules of the sport is that one foot must be in contact with the ground at all ti...

My first DNF | Gone Somewhere
https://bigrahn.wordpress.com/2008/05/26/my-first-dnf
Going…Going…Going…Gone! This morning, I attempted to run the Darkside Running Clubs. 3M marathon. This is a small ( 15 people) race in Peachtree city. The 3M stands for Monday Morning Marathon, and they have one on Memorial day and another on Labor Day. It’s billed as race where you show up, they give you a course. One neat thing was little tunnels going under the roads. I couldn’t help myself for a while, and felt the need to talk in them just to hear the echo. My first lap, after running the first coup...

Kyle's Tracks: Georgia Death Race Postmortem
http://stichtenoth.blogspot.com/2013/03/georgia-death-race-postmortem.html
Friday, March 22, 2013. Georgia Death Race Postmortem. Inaugural races can often be dicey. Throw in the word "death" in the race name and a first time race director that prefers to be called "Run Bum", this race had every reason to be a complete disaster. There were bumps, big steep bumps, but the race was anything but a disaster and in fact a rather challenging and wonderful experience. Death race, yeah, I get it. At this point I started thinking big picture. I had thrown out some time estimates of ...

Kyle's Tracks: September 2010
http://stichtenoth.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Getting Slower Is Good (Ironman Florida Training). So I've noticed on some recent training rides that where I used to be one of the fastest guys out there, I can no longer keep up with the elite guys. At first this was a scratch my head WTF. Moment, but then it hit me. I'm training for an Ironman. Not an Olympic distance race. These guys should be faster than me especially on the shorter rides. It is now less than two months till Ironman. Florida; am I ready? See Dad Run....

Thursday, December 20, 2012. Western States 100 Lottery. When it comes to ultra running there are several big events and races, but one that seems to be near the top of most people's list is the Western States Endurance Run. This race is generally regarded as the first 100 miler and still carries a ton of prestige and receives major attention. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Pelham, AL, United States. Kyle's Tracks: February 2012
http://stichtenoth.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 11, 2012. Rocky Raccoon 100 Race Report. You think you know, but you don't know. The light from my cell phone lit up my face in the dark RV. People who make a living predicting the weather get it wrong damn near half the time; what was my phone going to tell me? Very clearly it told me this: Things were going to be a lot different. We had all come to Texas with expectations, goals and ideas of what we would accomplish. Now we were nervous and unsure. Not exactly roughin' it. During thi...
