Nothing Spectacular: More Ishiguro
http://nothing-spectacular.blogspot.com/2013/03/more-ishiguro.html
Quixotic, eccentric, humane, philosophical takes on the varying vicissitudes of life. Thursday, March 21, 2013. I read Sputnik Sweetheart on a couple of airplane rides on my new iPad. Typical Ishiguro stuff - metaphysical, poetic, abstruse and spooky. The best part about it was that it is short and has a single event as its main plot device. However, two weeks out, I remember it as a bit of mumbo-jumbo. I preferred Dance Dance Dance instead. At least it had a lesson for me! View my complete profile.

Nothing Spectacular: January 2013
http://nothing-spectacular.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Quixotic, eccentric, humane, philosophical takes on the varying vicissitudes of life. Sunday, January 13, 2013. Generally speaking, I think I am a happy person. However, sometimes I get really depressed with the state of existence that I inhabit. There is nothing noteworthy or significant in this very unremarkable history of a guy like millions of other guys. What would make me happier? Generosity. I try to be unselfish, and to help people close to me. I am the guy who always will volunteer to su...Or am...

Nothing Spectacular: April 2013
http://nothing-spectacular.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Quixotic, eccentric, humane, philosophical takes on the varying vicissitudes of life. Saturday, April 06, 2013. I write this on yet another aircraft. In a very difficult position. This is because my little princess is fast asleep on my lap. I have just sung her songs for the past 50 minutes to get her to sleep. I hope and pray she is able to sleep soundly all her life. She is now smiling in her sleep. Probably having a pleasant dream. My heart melts totally and I'm unable to write anymore.

Nothing Spectacular: February 2013
http://nothing-spectacular.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Quixotic, eccentric, humane, philosophical takes on the varying vicissitudes of life. Wednesday, February 20, 2013. My favourite scene from Skyfall. Monday, February 11, 2013. An ode to gin. Have become gin converts. May the tribe increase! A recent article on the miracle drink and its history -. The exception, of course, is rum, which is made from molasses anyway, and Old Monk has always been justly celebrated as the one really good Indian liquor brand. Are as smooth as you'll get anywhere. I keep h...

Nothing Spectacular: October 2012
http://nothing-spectacular.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Quixotic, eccentric, humane, philosophical takes on the varying vicissitudes of life. Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Random thoughts as I am forced to sit at home, watching non-stop squalling for the past 24 hours. Has all our goodness and decency really been stripped away? But this is a post about the greatest nation on the planet. India will hobble along in mediocrity, an outcome destined by its citizens' pettiness and selfishness. Tuesday, October 16, 2012. Narendra Modi for PM. The slums along the embank...

Nothing Spectacular: A nice movie and general rumination
http://nothing-spectacular.blogspot.com/2013/03/a-nice-movie-and-general-rumination.html
Quixotic, eccentric, humane, philosophical takes on the varying vicissitudes of life. Wednesday, March 06, 2013. A nice movie and general rumination. I saw Kai Po Che recently and loved it. I haven't read the book, so had no idea of what would happen, or even how it compares to the book. What I liked, apart from the songs (which I think are really brilliant - my daughter concurs wholeheartedly! Was the idea of the main protagonist - your beliefs are worth dying for. Nothing Spectacular: December 2012
http://nothing-spectacular.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Quixotic, eccentric, humane, philosophical takes on the varying vicissitudes of life. Monday, December 24, 2012. No, this is not a remake of Mithunda's 80s movie (that one had only 2 Dances in its name). I recently went looking in the bookshop for more Kazuo Ishiguro (for details see earlier post on Remains of the Day. But instead found Haruki Murakami. Incidentally, I was in the bookshop again last evening, in front of the same row containing Murakami's other books. I almost bought a few more, but t...
