But, the hot weather in Northern California put us into a ‘summer’s here early’ haze, and we forgot about the whole snow at high altitudes thing. After driving about thirty minutes, I pointed at the the mountain peak that appeared over the horizon. A very white mountain peak. No, that must be Mt Shasta.’. We’ll just see how it goes.

The best place to watch an eclipse, should you happen to be in San Francisco on those rare occasions when there’s an eclipse to see, is Bernal Heights Park. Walk from the Mission District (BART: Mission and 24th Street) about twenty minutes (just head up the hill, following the tower), and you’re suddenly on top of the city.
