See Greg run.

Sunday, May 04, 2014. I read somewhere that it can actually have a negative influence to publicly state your goals, but fortunately nobody reads this! Anyway, I'm trying to get back in some semblance of shape. Getting back under 170 by the end of May seems ambitious but not unreasonable. There's also a 5k on 31 May for me to run. I'm terrible in the heat, but I find racing to be a good motivator. OK, so here's the journey back (0/7.0 means 7.0 miles PM. With no '/,' it's assumed to be AM). The week of Se...

See Greg run.: June 2011

http://seegregrun.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, June 02, 2011. Racing season is over. 94 degrees yesterday and no chance of a decent race anytime soon, so I'll declare the sub-40 by 40 chase over. I managed to run 39:35 at Pike's Peek downhill with a tailwind, so I guess I can declare victory on the sub-40 by 40? We'll have to put an asterisk. When I get a chance, I'll cut and paste my logs here. Suffice it to say that I've totally slacked off the last couple of weeks and only managed 32 miles last week. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

See Greg run.: July 2011

http://seegregrun.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, July 02, 2011. What I've been doing. The last 3 weeks are a virtual guess as I got in the habit of not wearing my garmin and then not writing down the time or distance. Big picture is the last couple of months I've been doing the lunge matrix before and after at least half my runs. I was doing pilates regularly (10 minutes with Denise Austen DVD) in May but have been off the wagon this month. Week of 4 April. Mo - jog 2 miles @ 9:30 [recovery from Cherry Blossom]. Tu - 7 easy @ 9:12 on treadmill.

See Greg run.: Summery

http://seegregrun.blogspot.com/2013/08/summery.html

Sunday, August 18, 2013. Summery." Get it? Anyway, it's not quite the end of summer, but I'm hoping this will mark the end of my summertime lackadaisical training. I'd just been running mileage, and not much of it, until a couple of weeks ago when I realized I was 15 weeks out from the marathon. Oh my. Here's from 2 June through. I was starting with week 15 counting down). Tempo for them means MP. I like the idea of doing on that MP so I know I'm ready, but that's pretty intimidating. Total: 30.9 @ 9...

See Greg run.: week of 26 August

http://seegregrun.blogspot.com/2013/09/week-of-26-august_1.html

Sunday, September 01, 2013. Week of 26 August. Schedule calls for 4 hard runs plus one of the "easy" runs is 120 minutes? Mon 46' E1. 10:00 on treadmill watching Breaking Bad. Tue Off. Didn't get any sleep and had to leave early for meeting. Schedule has off day each week. I took it today. There are also 4 workout days, so back-to-back easy days is not ideal! Wed 726 miles. 16' E1 20:02 E3 2' recovery 10 x (45" E4 15" rec) 16' E1. Ran at track. 20:02 covered 4200 meters (7:40 pace - was very constant).

Running with Mainers: Knackered!

http://paul-mainwaring.blogspot.com/2009/01/knackered.html

Saturday, January 3, 2009. That one's especially for Tim! A very enjoyable run today. Went to the Dowd, ran 4.3 by myself, then met Jocelyn and Adrian for another 4, then Lori, Kathy, Cummins and Adam joined us and I did the 8 mile loop while they carried on. Pace was a lot faster than anticipated but a nice run, good company and chat. Legs were trashed at about mile 14 but more good miles in the bank! Over 50 in the last 4 days! Going to grab some shut eye now while Sophie naps and Emily is out!

Running with Mainers: January 2008

http://paul-mainwaring.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 31, 2008. Back in the swing. Took today off (instead of tomorrow's planned day off) and will still hit 50 miles for the week so I'm happy with that. Have pencilled in a 5k on the 9th Feb which should give me some sort of a benchmark of where I am at the moment. I'm guessing mid 16s shape. Long way to go. Sunday, January 27, 2008. Overall run was 9.5 miles in 56.50. Weather was perfect- 50s and sunny. I finished workout in just shorts! Spent the rest of the day in the park with seemingly...

Running with Mainers: September 2008

http://paul-mainwaring.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 13, 2008. Hi all, just quickly checking back in to give an update on how things have been going since the Half. Well the good news is that the legs have recovered well. I didn't run Monday or Tuesday but since then have run 7 or 8 miles nice and easy every day and feel fully recovered from last weekend's efforts. Other than that business as usual. Working too hard and looking forward to the weekend! Sunday, September 7, 2008. Mile 12 I managed in 5.35 then mile 13 in 5.41. Unfortunate...

Running with Mainers: All work and no play

http://paul-mainwaring.blogspot.com/2009/01/all-work-and-no-play.html

Friday, January 9, 2009. All work and no play. Ok my life since last Sunday has been like this. 5am wake up, go to work. 7.30pm leave work, eat dinner, put kids to bed. 10.30pm go to bed. Repeat. No run since last Sunday. I did step out on Monday but could immediately feel something in my quad and haven't bothered to try running since. No time anyway! So not a great week! Sounds like a fine weekend! I was crazy busy this week, but had the luxury of slacking today! January 9, 2009 at 7:36 PM. Subscribe to...

Running with Mainers: July 2008

http://paul-mainwaring.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 30, 2008. My Dad turns 60 today. Happy birthday to one of my few readers! Ironically he is currently speeding along the autoroutes in France on his way to Lake Garda in Italy for his vacation so won't get to read this for a couple of weeks anyway! The run today felt more like a chore than something I enjoyed! 785 mile road loop including 8*100 striders at the local track. I felt tired and my legs were stiff and unresponsive. Tuesday, July 29, 2008. Chill week planned now until race on Sat...

Running with Mainers: 12/30/08

http://paul-mainwaring.blogspot.com/2008/12/123008.html

Tuesday, December 30, 2008. Took yesterday off in the end. Still plan to hit my mileage for the week if I can double up tomorrow and Saturday as planned. Today it was an effort to get out of the door as well to be honest! Weird my motivation has been lacking the last couple of days- I should be chomping at the bit! Some reasons the motivation might be lacking a bit? Not having any races scheduled? During the weeks it is always bloody dark when I run? Who knows, but hopefully it's just a temporary funk.

Running with Mainers: Things can only get faster

http://paul-mainwaring.blogspot.com/2009/01/things-can-only-get-faster.html

Thursday, January 1, 2009. Things can only get faster. Well my New Year began with being at my desk at 5.30. Knew I had a day's work to catch up on so got in very early so i could at least head home at lunch time. I'll take today's holiday some other time. We report our half year numbers next week, Christmas and New Year are always really busy for me! Can tell i'm getting stronger but feel so slow and heavy still! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Saturday, February 23, 2008. At last, some structure. So my week went down like this. S- 88 including 7@5.43. T- 685 including 6*1000 with 90 seconds recovery (av 3.12). Saturday, February 16, 2008. Until the next time. Despite all my injury woes this winter I actually feel I'm pretty fit at the moment and would love to get some solid weeks in and see where it gets me. Cross your fingers! Wednesday, February 6, 2008. Good and bad news. Monday, February 4, 2008. What would I have done without it? So an ho...

Saturday, August 30, 2008. I like cut back weeks! Feeling decent at the moment and looking to beat my half pr next Sunday up in Cleveland. My gut feel is that I should be in mid 1.12s shape, we'll see. Thursday, August 28, 2008. Dried out and humid. Certainly could feel the humidity today! After a very stressful day at work I had a timely massage and it feels good! Wednesday, August 27, 2008. Record breaking rainfall here. Charlotte under water in many places! Tuesday, August 26, 2008.
