Life on Spring Hill: A picture is worth a thousand words...
http://lifeonspringhill.blogspot.com/2009/07/picture-is-worth-thousand-words.html
05 July, 2009. A picture is worth a thousand words. There's a big brouhaha in Jerusalem right now over a parking lot that the city authorized to be open on Shabbot. The ultra-Orthodox have their knickers in a twist because it's another business open on Shabbot. The seculars are up-in-arms about the ultra-Orthodox being up-in-arms because there is a huge parking problem in Jerusalem, especially on the weekends (it goes hand-in-hand with the huge housing problem in Jerusalem, but I digress). If you'd like ...

Life on Spring Hill: The beginning of the end

14 July, 2009. The beginning of the end. The saddest things in life are separations and deaths.". In the therapy process, patient and counselor broach the subject of the end of treatment a few sessions before the last session. I'm finding that this approach works well for real life, too. I don't know what it says about me that it's taken me this long; at 28, I've moved over a dozen time in my lifetime. You'd think I'd be an expert at "goodbyes" by now. And here I am in my last week. The goodbyes are ...

Life on Spring Hill: "Moments."
http://lifeonspringhill.blogspot.com/2009/08/moments.html
20 September, 2009. As you can imagine, the most popular question I've been asked is: "how was Israel? Even though I've been asked approximately 14,000 times, I still don't have an answer. Like "what was your favourite part? There is no real answer to that. How do you sum up two years into one thing, or one word, or one conceptualization? I saw this video today, and I think it gave me an answer: Israel was moments. Tel Aviv, Israel. View my complete profile. And follow the instructions. Other blogs I read.

09 July, 2009. Next it'll be separate water fountains. Pool Boots Kids Who Might "Change the Complexion". More than 60 campers from Northeast Philadelphia were turned away from a private swim club and left to wonder if their race was the reason. I heard this lady, she was like, 'Uh, what are all these black kids doing here? She's like, 'I'm scared they might do something to my child,'" said camper Dymire Baylor. Jaffa pool restricts entry of Arab residents. Yes I agree Dan this is messed up! Posts that w...

Keeping an eye on the world going by my window…. Moving further on down the river. Happy Birthday, Danny Elfman. Ok, a day late. But what the hell, you didn’t show up at the Oingo Boingo Almost-Reunion, so we’re even. Has it really been this long? My first show was your last – Universal Amphitheatre, Halloween 1995. Life on Spring Hill: Just a little off the top...
http://lifeonspringhill.blogspot.com/2009/04/just-little-off-top.html
21 April, 2009. Just a little off the top. When I get my hair cut, I like going to the same place even if it's not the same person cutting my hair. It's like my own form of OCD. When I first moved to Jerusalem, I kept getting my hair cut in Tel Aviv as I was there at least once a week and, like I said: OCD. However, a few months ago, I decided this was silly and that I needed to just find a place in Jerusalem and be done with it. And that he really likes Sylvester Stallone films. Tel Aviv, Israel. The US...

Keeping an eye on the world going by my window…. Moving further on down the river. Sorry the blog has been a little quiet as of late. Things have been hectic and slow all at the same time. I’ve definitely gotten into more of a groove here, and I find that it’s dangerous. I’m still trying to figure out what it is I’m really supposed to ‘do’ here on my? Everything sounded pretty simple before I left – comp sci research with IBM, and community outreach to fill up the other time. Basic research principles to...

Keeping an eye on the world going by my window…. Moving further on down the river. Save the World by Sleeping. One of my new goals with my blog (I am announcing now) is to introduce you to cool things in the technosphere (a word I just made up, although I might not be the first.). What is distributed computing, you may ask? Even though you didn’t). Basically, it’s a way to split up work so that it can be done on lots of computers, making it faster than if it was just running on one. 8211; improve the res...

But in the interest of transparency, I thought I’d post it.). Tonight is my last night in the US for a year. What a weird thing to say. Barring any visits back to the US I haven’t planned yet (and don’t intend on planning), I will be outside of the country until June 2009. That’s cool. 8220;Life moves pretty fast – if you don’t stop and look around once...So my onl...
