A day trip to Taiwan | An Englishman in Siberia
https://seeredeat.wordpress.com/2012/03/28/a-day-trip-to-taiwan
An Englishman in Siberia. A day trip to Taiwan. On March 28, 2012 · 3 Comments. It has been a while since I’ve written and I’m not certain on what activities I can fill you in on tbh. There have been no wrestling bears or appearances in Russian soap operas, but life has been ticking on. I think it is a sign of having got settled into a life, if you can claim this, but equally the town is so boring at times! I could fall to sleep to Mozart any day though! The ice was still very thick. The ice creates ...
Reflections on Kazakhstan and my Year Abroad | An Englishman in Siberia

An Englishman in Siberia. Reflections on Kazakhstan and my Year Abroad. On July 29, 2012 · 4 Comments. I don’t want to make sweeping statements about Russia because I’m sure that I’ll make them with you in person, but instead, I’ll leave you with a brief description of my trip into Kazakhstan. Astana was an interesting city to visit, although not really my cup of tea. My couchsurfing host was great and lived in a 25. My final stop was Almaty, right down in the South-East of the country, bordering China a...
Akademgorodok | An Englishman in Siberia

An Englishman in Siberia. This town is as close as you get to campus life in Russia and for that I am quite relieved. For as exciting as big cities are, they are not the greatest places to settle into, especially when they can be so alien. Anyhow, here is a Russia Today video about the boffins of Akademgorodok:. Merry Christmas…I mean New Year | An Englishman in Siberia

An Englishman in Siberia. Merry Christmas…I mean New Year. On December 18, 2011 · 2 Comments. When I began my Year Abroad, I said that this blog wouldn’t be about my endless varying emotions, and believe me; it has been difficult at times to distinguish what would be interesting and what wouldn’t be. After all, I don’t want to write a blog simply to lose subscribers! I also have the aim of finding some Cheddar cheese in the city. I want it so badly! My understanding of Russian is definitely improving....

Today, back in Irkutsk, the only thing of any interest which has occurred has been me buying a new telephone, with a Russian keypad, which will finally allow me to text people in Russian! After ...

Em's Russian Adventure. Just another Brit Abroad…. A church on the river. An example of the unusually high curbs! SPB at night (from our stroll). Me in front of the oldest bridge in SPB. Me in front of an Engineer’s House. I was unsure as to the exact meaning of the palm trees among the mini-tombs. The windows in SPB seem to all be double, as in this picture, with a separate part that you can open. In the Peter and Paul Fortress, there was an unexplained ring of chairs… this one looked cool!

Em's Russian Adventure. Just another Brit Abroad…. 8220;This is Russia…”. March 31, 2012. Over the past few days several things have happened to which this seems the only appropriate response. Today I bought a chicken burger. I sat down, unwrapped it, and thought they’ve given me the wrong thing . Unfortunately, they hadn’t. And repair men are not the only ones who like to walk into my room with no explanation…. Today I realised that there is a wooden, padlocked trunk in the corridor outside our flat who...

Em's Russian Adventure. Just another Brit Abroad…. June 13, 2012. Setting off for Novosibirsk at 4am, I wasn’t sure what to expect from my summer holiday. The thought of Siberia evoked images of a sub-zero wasteland, and although I knew that it would be hot I had no idea what the landscape would be like. The last day in Novo Jack took me to the Botanical Gardens, which turned out to be untouched forest, it was very peaceful. Then we head to the beach so that we could relax in the 32 degree heat. ...Arriv...

Adventures of a Siberian variety. Ice Hockey, Russia’s got talent and the Chinese…. Let’s bring it up to date…. November 20, 2011. Day to Day Living. It’s been a while since I posted, so it’s probably about time that I let you know what’s going on in my life. Firstly, for those of you who regularly stalk me on Facebook, you’ll have noticed that the temperature here has been dipping steadily and we’ve got an average of -12 to -15 degrees and lots of snow. So that’s fun. Errrm, what else? Then on wednesday...

Sometime in the past two decades you may have seen a hot 1968 Camaro cruising around Lee's Summit, hanging out at the Dairy Queen or anywhere else classic cars gather. An Englishman in Siberia | Living it up in Novosib
An Englishman in Siberia. From September 2011 until June 2012 I shall be living in Akademgorodok (near Novosibirsk), which is the largest city in Siberia and the third largest in Russia. All I know so far is that I'm studying at Novosibirsk State University and winter will be unbearably cold. I hope that this blog describes how life really is out in Siberia and all the adventures and mis-adventures that I end up having in the land of the exiled and insane. Reflections on Kazakhstan and my Year Abroad.

See Red Run
Friday, August 24, 2007. It's always wonderful to go on vacation to someplace nice like Oahu, Hawaii. But there is nothing like being back home. This picture is overlooking Honolulu and Waikiki from Diamond Head. I'm not sure what my running stats look like from the trip but I'm sure I more than doubled my mileage especially when I add in all of the hiking. I've been back back for a couple of days now and my legs are still jelly lol. Until then. Have Fun! Saturday, July 21, 2007. I wasn't really running ...
