Conversations with a pastor's wife. Formerly known as High Desert Blog). Tuesday, January 26, 2016. The Beauty of God's Creation Hoar Frost. This morning was amazingly beautiful. We experienced a new to us natural phenomenon hoar frost. A grayish-white crystalline deposit of frozen water vapor formed in clear still weather on vegetation, fences, etc. I have seen many beautiful frosty mornings but this was, well, amazing. Tell me this happens by chance. This is the work of our amazing Creator. The goats c...

Conversations with a pastor's wife. Formerly known as High Desert Blog). Tuesday, October 25, 2016. The Story of Soup. Today was a soup day. For sure. Rainy, dark, cold and blustery. A good day to read and make soup. Freezers are looking pretty bare these days. It's been a long time since we butchered anything. And I haven't run the canner in a while. And since we make everything ( mostly). From scratch when the freezers and cupboards are bare dinner starts to look darn near impossible. I cooked up a HUGE.

Conversations with a pastor's wife. Formerly known as High Desert Blog). Monday, December 26, 2016. I love where I live. I abso-freaking-lutely love where I live. I think it is pretty close to being the most beautiful place on Earth. And there are plenty who agree with me. This morning the beauty was almost unbearable. We had hoar frost this morning. If you have never seen it it is amazing. It's a crystalline growth that forms on trees, fences, twine everything. The whole world looks like an ice sculpture.

Y'all may watch the Nature Channel but I stinkin' LIVE. The little boys and I are were doing school when my big boy called me outside. Right over the fence line, in the field 3 cranes were doing their trumpet call. I love their trumpet call. Sigh. I grabbed my camera and snuck over to the fence line and you know what I saw?

Conversations with a pastor's wife. Formerly known as High Desert Blog). Wednesday, September 7, 2016. We decided to take advantage of the ripe wheat and the beautiful fall skies and take some pictures. They could technically be our "First Day of School" pics because, well, it's our first day of school. But since I didn't make everyone hold up signs with their grades on them I think we'll just not go there. So how about Fall 2016 pictures? That works for me. He would not keep them open. See the Blue Sky.

Conversations with a pastor's wife. Formerly known as High Desert Blog). Friday, February 19, 2016. Waste Not Want Not. I made stir fry the other day. I breasted out 2 chickens (skinny Red Rangers remember them? Hence the 2 chickens) Cooked them up in coconut oil and they were yum. For many folks that would be the end of the story. They would pitch the carcass and what was left of the meat. I mean, you cut off all of the breast right? There couldn't possibly be much more meat on the bones right? Folks ha...
