A reader told me that it was like reading a modern retelling of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I said, "What? I never thought of it that way. I didn't set out to retell that story. But in many ways, it is true. There are many parallels. Most basically, both are the Hero's Journey, so some resemblance is inevitable. 500 Words A Day.

Meryl Streep once said, "I believed I was too ugly to be an actress.". Thank goodness that hadn't stopped her from doing what she really loved (and is pretty good at, too). But the real fact is: I NEVER tried out to be an astronaut. NEVER. So how would I know for sure? I almost quit being a writer after I'd received more than 60 rejections. 500 Words A Day.

I, the author. Random musings of the author of The Pacific Between. Saturday, September 10, 2011. Book #3 has finally started - I think. I hope. Actually, I did start another book #3 last November when I was *trying* to do NaNoWriMo but I quit after the first 8000 words because it turned out not to be the book I wanted to write. And since then, I've been working on editing on Book #2 and figuring out what to do with Book #3. I narrowed it down to between two ideas. Labels: 500 Words A Day. 500 Words A Day.
