From I-80 take exit 16 onto 219 South, at Mahaffey, take 36 South and head towards Patton. Seldom Seen Mine is right off of 36 before you enter St. Boniface. From Rte 22 in Ebensburg, take 219 north, (Carrolltown exit), follow into Carrolltown. At the Light in Carrolltown, take a right and head towards Patton. Go straight thru the light till you hit a "T", this will be Rte 36. Take a left onto Rte 36. travel Rte 36 North for about 4 miles. Seldom Seen Mine is right off of Rte 36.

History Of the Seldom Seen Mine. Coal mining reflects the independent spirit of the region's people. Many southwestern Pennsylvania mines were small family run operations such as Seldom Seen Mine. Andrew Radomsky also purchased Miller Run no. 7 in 1940, in which he operated both Miller Run nos.7 and 8 from 1940-41. Miller Run no.8 is about ¼ mile southeast of Miller Run no. 7. Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Although I wasn't terrbile, I threw caution to the wind this weekend. It was quite windy so I wan't able to get a grip back on it until today.
