When you are a cyclist with a day job, there are several ways in which you can be serious about that non-professional part of your life. Of course, you shave your guns, keep your material in proper working order, and generally demonstrate an awareness of the Rules. It is hard to think of a better way to do this, even when you do race regularly, than participation in Haute Route.
