20: Hosting a Party in New York. July 10, 2014. September 28, 2015. I’m pretty sure engagement parties are more of an East Coast thing. I had never heard of them growing up in Hawaii, and neither has my Californian fiancé. When some of our New York friends found out that we got engaged, they asked if we were having an engagement party. (New Yorkers sure love their parties! Finally, one surprising bakery fit our budget: Dominique Ansel. Fortunately, I received an email from the owner of one of our neighbo...

18: A Brooklyn Twist on Diner en Blanc. June 28, 2014. May 28, 2015. When I told my dad that Anthony and I were attending a flash picnic at which everyone wears white and brings their own food and decorations, he said, “Jenny, that’s so…bourgeois.” The statement was exactly what I expected from the hyper-aware, progressive man that raised me. I quickly explained, “I know. But it’s very New York! And we’ll be bringing Filipino food.” He didn’t argue after that. We got our Filipino feast during a trip to W...

Local girl exploring the downtown lunchtime options to help you find new spots! Tuesday, January 31, 2012. I’d read such great. Things about Heeia Pier. It’s a great location - at the end of the Heeia pier. It was actually buzzing with activity - fishing boats (? And a lot of tour groups going snorkeling / scuba diving / sailing / etc. I had no idea how busy it is over there! So it makes perfect sense to have a casual lunch spot - capturing all of the tourists. Driving out to the pier.gorge! BooI missed ...

#13: En Pointe | jenNYdreams
https://jennydreams.com/2012/12/13/13-en-pointe
December 13, 2012. February 28, 2013. My parents encouraged me to commit to just a few activities outside of school because “one must. Not just dabble” and so, ballet lessons, piano lessons, and even art classes in the summer persisted throughout my childhood. This commitment to… commit is something I value even more so now. Ballet and piano, my two most consistent extracurricular activities, define the way I view and appreciate the world. Posted in The Mundane. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. 43: Moving to ...

11: Quantifying the Unquantifiable: An Anniversary Post. September 23, 2012. September 26, 2015. I didn’t want to get involved in a serious relationship. Anthony proved my hypothesis wrong. In fact, he proved a lot of things wrong. He proved that not all guys want open relationships, not all young people are scared of discussing a future with their significant other, and, most importantly, when you’ve found someone you love, you’re not gonna let them go. I am now here to prove. He can make me laugh.
