The Scientific Domestic: Beginnings & Endings.
http://scientificdomestic.blogspot.com/2014/07/beginnings-endings.html
Musings about science, education and baking. but mostly baking. Saturday, July 19, 2014. When I first started blogging, I wanted to do something akin to online journaling/scrap booking - keep track of what I was doing, thoughts on various things. I used to journal a lot when I was younger. But as I got older, I found that if I missed some time, getting back into it always felt awkward. The longer it got left, the less inclined I felt to start again. What do you say? At the urging of my principal I have b...

Musings about science, education and baking. but mostly baking. Monday, April 14, 2014. Once again fallen off the blogging wagon a little. I've been experimenting with twitter at the urging of some colleagues (including my principal) and can really only think of so many things to post to social media. Coupled with how busy it has been the last week (volunteering at the trade fair, putting in time at school, planning shower activities, food club, open house this week.) it just hasn't happened.

Monthly Archives: September 2014. I’m sitting on a grassy hill just north of the Adler Planetarium reflecting on my first week here in Chicago. I’m in a beautiful shady spot in front and to my left, the skyline; to my right, the lake, chock a block full of boats on a sunny Sunday. I’ll try to keep updated here with things I do. I’ve decided to try and get back in the habit of taking photos just a little bit no promises, but I’ll see what I can do. Click to share on Google (Opens in new window).

Week #17 & 18. Double header gratitude today. It’s been a busy and exciting few weeks… lots of mayhem and madness, sadness, and happiness doesn’t rhyme here but it’s been around quite a bit too. There are many things to be grateful for…in no particular order:. 1 A relative absence of spleen-fear, despite a good deal of difficult spleen exercise. 2 July 22 being very soon: Horatio, your days are numbered. 4 An injury free race! 8230;And a better than goal time! More on that soon…. 9 Time with MKE. You are...

I’m trying out a loaner saddle – last night was the first ride on it. It was not awesome. My body is not 100% happy about it. (And so…) The hunt for a perfect fit continues…. (Anyone with an opinion on ladies saddles: join the conversation? I was feeling a bit sad this morning. I’m really not sure why. A case of the Wednesday blues, perhaps? 8230;That space between my ears is tragically melodramatic, right? Anyway. During JPB’s visit from the UK over the summer, remarks were made about how exhausting the frenzied Canadian way was. After further discussion, we decided said way had something (everything? May you, too, feel contained by the dark and not shut out by it. Click to share on Google (Opens in new window). I did my first open water race and first Olympic distance race (1500m swim; 40 km bike; 9.4 km run) at Hubbles Lake this past Sunday. I’m happy with my overall time of 2:43:12…. Happy with my swim time of 28.48, and tickled to have placed 2nd (out of 6) in my age category. Click to share on Google (Opens in new window). Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Musings about science, education and baking. but mostly baking. Sunday, May 25, 2014. This is just something I needed to get off my chest. An open letter to Michael Sam:. Dear Michael Sam,. First off, congratulations on your recent NFL draft. I wish you nothing but success in St Louis. And thank you, for unintentionally holding a gigantic mirror up to our society in the process.
