Saturday, October 1, 2011. Learning about Connect openSUSE. It seems that not many people are aware of Connect openSUSE service. That was created by Boosters team. While ago, and consequently they don't know what they miss. In the wiki page about it. There is more about technical details then about social aspects, which is not surprising:. Wiki article was written when Connect was in initial stages without many add on features (plugins) it has now, so it is time to take a new look at it. Social aspects o...

Thursday, February 2, 2012. Step back - New stuff is not always better. It is time to step back and look again at few applications that I use. The most recent incarnation of a mail client software KMail, is slow on pretty current hardware that consists of Quad Core 2.66 and 8 GB RAM. I have to wait longer to see an email then with single core 1250 MHz Athlon on 1.5 GB RAM. In normal circumstances YaST Software Management, or zypper, when they spot that package management is locked, they will:. This works...

Sunday, August 22, 2010. Being stubbornly focussed on getting something done is the only bad habbit we allow in openSUSE :D. However, being stubbornly annoying about something YOU don't want to work on is frowned upon - as is putting down others on what they do, no matter how useless you think it is. .". Monday, December 28, 2009. Is on the way to be renewed. There was a lot of work done, but the pile that is waiting is much bigger. The list of articles that have to be checked. We can be found on opensuse-wiki@opensuse.org mail list, or any other communication medium mentioned on a team page http:/ en.opensuse.org/Wiki team. Links to this post. Was just insta...

Wednesday, February 2, 2011. Is openSUSE for users with a little computer knowledge. Or Protective vs. overprotective. One post on opensuse@opensuse.org made me think about what makes openSUSE a bit hard to chew for new computer users. In particular the post was about NTFS usage. There is a short article how to fix default settings:. Http:/ en.opensuse.org/SDB:NTFS. Problem is that any other NTFS file system is not writable too, which forces users to either learn workarounds, or leave Linux. Taking t...

Wednesday, March 18, 2009. KDE4 and graphics drivers - problems solved. It is not recent news that Nvidia. Drivers for my legacy cards and ever since I'm happy camper spending more and more time in KDE4. It is really interesting how fast KDE guys. The only problem is that transfer of settings between KDE3 and KDE4 is not always easy. In some parts difference is irrelevant, you can just copy files with settings and it works, in other it is better to create new setup from scratch. Links to this post. Hopef...
