All Not So Quiet Along the Potomac: A Trip to Gettysburg with the Kids

http://dclawyeronthecivilwar.blogspot.com/2015/06/a-trip-to-gettysburg-with-kids.html

All Not So Quiet Along the Potomac. The Civil War in Northern Virginia and Beyond. Thursday, June 25, 2015. A Trip to Gettysburg with the Kids. As the followers of this blog's feeds on Facebook and Twitter know, I often take my twin sons to Civil War sites in and around Northern Virginia. I am a big believer in exposing them to history at an early age. They may not really "get it," but I am sure that deep down, an understanding, or better yet, an interest, is taking root. Even before driving up US-15, I ...

On the same date in 1863, 79 Union soldiers. Would earn the Congressional Medal of Honor. On Saturday, May 23 I will cut the lawn; plant...

Where is Ron now?: April Flowers on the Appalachian Trail

http://whereisronnow.blogspot.com/2015/04/april-flowers-on-appalachian-trail.html

Where is Ron now? Thursday, April 2, 2015. April Flowers on the Appalachian Trail. Spring arrived at Maple Tree Campground on 26 Mar this year. So we are jumping north to a favorite spot, the Inn at Long Trail, which opens 22 May. There we can walk out the door and hike in any of five directions, see how our trail maintenance has held up in the intervening two years, and encourage hikers to use the OLD AT, now known as the Sherbourne Pass Trail. Rausch Gap was pretty place. Man-made waterfall was scenic.
