Creatively Amusing: Life is Like a Box of....Exlax
http://creatively-amusing.blogspot.com/2005/03/life-is-like-box-ofexlax.html
Monday, March 21, 2005. Life is Like a Box of.Exlax. With all due respect to Momma Gump, I have what I think is a more realistic analogy. Life is like a box of Exlax. It looks good. It even tastes okay. But you know with dead certainty that more often than not someone's going to need a good pooper scooper by the end of the day. Let's explore some of the evidence I have to back up my theory, shall we? The red blouse I bought as a reward for myself for not killing her at birth? You know me. I'm just a ...

Stephie's Thoughts: May 2005

Wednesday, May 25, 2005. Wives and girlfriends, (even guys, I guess), please tell me if I am wrong to be looking so forward to seeing my parents all weekend long? I mean, I half-assed offered to not go Friday and go with Rico on Saturday. (But he said no, to go as planned since we learned of his meeting.) Go to his dad's then my parent's, but I want to spend as much time with my mom as humanly possible. Shopping, gossiping, shopping in her closet (oh, my favorite! I have decided that if I won't allow mys...

Creatively Amusing: December 2004
http://creatively-amusing.blogspot.com/2004_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 31, 2004. Hope for the New Year. A friend of mine, someone very dear to my heart, wrote of this day. New Year's Eve.Why is this day important? Because tomorrow begins a new year? So what if the world keeps moving and if time keeps ticking away? It made me think. What DOES make life worth living? What makes the passing of time more than just minutes ticking away? When it would seem so easy to give up and give in to the pain or apathy, why keep trudging on? In 2005, I hope. Oh, I've experi...

Creatively Amusing: January 2005

Sunday, January 30, 2005. The Power of Numbers. I woke up this morning and did what I usually do in the morning, checked my blog for any activity. The first thing I noticed was that my visitor counter was missing! I was horrified, baffled, and a little panicked. What happened to it? How could I get it back? And that made me stop and ponder. Why was that little counter so important to me? The fact that they MAKE such counters indicates that others use the same sort of measuring stick. The power of numbers...

Creatively Amusing: Kiss Me in the Dining Room
http://creatively-amusing.blogspot.com/2005/03/kiss-me-in-dining-room.html
Sunday, March 13, 2005. Kiss Me in the Dining Room. My mom and I spent an enjoyable hour and a bit this afternoon visiting with my Honey Grandma, my maternal grandmother. I don't see her as often as she'd like, nor as often as I should, but when we do see each other it's a lovely, heart-warming time, and I always leave with another memory to file away and cherish for the time when she's no longer a part of my life. Do you have someone who would appreciate being "kissed in the dining room? Honey Grandma i...

Sunday, October 10, 2004. Where I Come From. Typical Lancaster County View. I live in a small town in the heart of Amish Country in Lancaster County, PA. It never occurred to me that it was might be unusual to be able to walk three or four blocks in any direction from the heart of our town and find yourself looking at some of the most beautiful farmland in the country. You can step out of the grocery store and right into a farmer's field. :-). Posted by Karen at 11:35 AM. Lessons Learned the Hard Way.

Thursday, March 03, 2005. News from Around the Water Cooler. There has been no permanent brain damage due to lack of blood oxygen, her heart is as good as it can be, her kidneys are functioning, and her COPD is undercontrol for the time being. She will, of course, continue to be monitored very closely for the next several months. But there really weren't many alternatives, you know? Posted by Karen at 7:22 AM. Thank God they figured it out, now go get some rest. Just know we are all out here thinking abo...

Creatively Amusing: April 2005
http://creatively-amusing.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 27, 2005. My Child My Heart. Brianna, my youngest daughter, is bursting forth with life. Literally. She's almost six months pregnant and shows no signs of changing her mind about the whole thing. And not just her body. Her emotions, driven to the brink of insanity by hormones and reality, are in constant flux. Everything is changing. Life is happening within her and without. It's amazing stuff. I have heartburn. Mom, how can I get rid of it? Will he stay with me after the baby is born?
