Posts with tag "- Main Street". Category: Food and Dining. Posted 1393 days ago. Cafeteria, created by the same team behind Pied a Terre and La Buca, took over Pings’ spot. I didn’t think Pings was that good as all I remembered were fried food and tempuras on the menu. Since this is the centre of one of the coolest parts of town, any decent quality restaurant would do well here. After a fun bbq competition held by Swallow Tail Supper Club. We decided to order a few items to share. The lamb kaftka with eg...

Posts with tag "- Vancouver Downtown". Market by Jean-Georges Restaurant. Category: Food and Dining. Posted 1409 days ago. It was another gorgeous summer night and having a patio dinner seemed fitting. Since I was feeling literally ‘under over-dressed’ for most of the afternoon, thought I better make use of my outfit at an appropriate restaurant; that restaurant turned out to be Market. As my main, I ordered the halibut. Bite out of Big City Cupcakes. Category: Food and Dining. Posted 1432 days ago.

Posts with tag "cafe". Category: Food and Dining. Posted 1366 days ago. My old hood of South Hill (or Sunset) is slowly growing in popularity. I lived in the area for MANY years (won’t say how many ;) and over time my old stomping grounds has become a desirable place to live in the city. We had a few bites of the New York Cheesecake. It was the type of cheesecake you make at home with the Philadelphia Cream Cheese recipe. It wasn’t horrible but I prefer my cheesecake to be smooth and light. Bonchaz is sm...

http://lifebitesmm.blogspot.com/2014/09/middle-sister-came-into-town-and-wanted.html
Sunday, September 14, 2014. Middle sister came into town and wanted to take me out for a belated birthday dinner. She's a gluten free vegetarian and after she did a little "what's new in food in vancouver" and discovered Ask for Luigi and that they offered a g-free pasta option. The menu is fairly short and sweet with about 10 appetizers and 5-6 different pastas. And they all sound fairly delicious. Unfortunately, the options were pretty limited in terms of vegetarian options that they could make...Appet...
Life Bites: April 2014
http://lifebitesmm.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 19, 2014. Wayward Vegan Cafe in Seattle. I'm a big fan of "experience" or "activities" as gifts. This year, for Christmas, my little sister and I told my dad we wanted to treat him to a day trip to Seattle to visit the Experience Music Project and Sci Fi Museum. This a pretty casual place; you place your order at the front counter, bus your own dishes, refill your own water, etc. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito. Scrambled seasoned tofu, spicy tvp chorizo and spinach wrapped up in a king-s...

Friday, September 21, 2012. About: food. photos. blogging. I will be surprised if anyone is still following this blog - considering the fact that my last two posts were in december and then in may. but, if you are. know that i have not forsaken writing about or taking photos of food. i have merely redirected my food-loving energy to other mediums. The first: i thoroughly enjoy taking photos and writing short captions on my instagram (@joey arm strong). My place of work, at dirtyapronblog.com.

Sunday, October 30, 2011. A recipe for delicious baked eggs. I mentioned in my last post that i was giving more energy to my photo blog. However, when i want to post recipes i will post over here. I have for you a recipe of sorts for baked eggs. A delicious way to eat eggs when you have some extra time on the weekend. 2 eggs, preferably room temperature (take them out night before). Handful of fresh herbs - thyme, sage and rosemary (thyme is the most important). Baking tray deeper than your ramekin.

Life Bites: Banh Mi Crawl- Kim Saigon Sandwiches/Golden Garden Vietnamese
http://lifebitesmm.blogspot.com/2014/11/banh-mi-crawl-kim-saigon.html
Saturday, November 8, 2014. Banh Mi Crawl- Kim Saigon Sandwiches/Golden Garden Vietnamese. This is a much belated food crawl post, but putting this together has been a delicious stroll down memory lane. In March 2014, four of us crawled the city tasting Banh Mi sandwiches. I first fell in love with Banh Mi’s when I lived near Fraser and Kingsway. This post sums up our first stop on this food crawl. Kim Saigon Sandwiches/ Golden Garden Vietnamese. 5 Chicken Bahn Mi. I also have to admit I had a big evenin...
Life Bites: May 2014

Friday, May 23, 2014. Farmer's Apprentice for Lunch. I was planning a work lunch meet up with a colleague from out of town and a fellow local food enthusiast. When she suggested Farmer’s Apprentic. The room is cozy, seating roughly 30 inside with an inviting 12 seat patio. Ceilings are low, wood is mismatched, and the space feels modern and yet rustic at the same time. There is a casual vibe here. This was a long lunch and over the course of our meal we had mixed feelings about service. There were a ...

Life Bites: Cinco De Mayo at Tacomio
http://lifebitesmm.blogspot.com/2015/05/cinco-de-mayo-at-tacomio.html
Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Cinco De Mayo at Tacomio. I had a lunch date set up with some lady friends from the last series I worked on. The lunch date happened to be on May 5, Cinco de Mayo, so I suggested we go for tacos in the gastown/Chinatown ‘hood. We decided to go check out a relatively new taco joint, Tacomio. The staff is super friendly and I loved that they were celebrating Cinco de Mayo, offering complimentary strawberry tequila popsicles and hibiscus drinks. I liked their recycled cardboard ta...
Life Bites: Bao Down
http://lifebitesmm.blogspot.com/2015/05/bao-down.html
Thursday, May 21, 2015. Some work buddies and I saw an article about this place opening soon and knew we had a lunch date to plan. When I read about the concept, bao-steamed rice buns stuffed with tasty sounding fillings, my mouth started to water. The space is a 2-floor set up with counter seating on the main floor and a few small tables on the 2. Floor Here you’ll pay for your meal before getting a number and finding a seat. It can get quite busy in this 25ish seating restaurant. I had 2 Bao, the Vevo.
