Stolen Wireless Internet | My Year Teaching English in Suwon, South Korea

https://seouldier.wordpress.com/2008/08/21/stolen-wireless-internet

My Year Teaching English in Suwon, South Korea. Happy Liberation Day Everyone. Climbing: at last →. August 21, 2008. Alright, so now that I made it to Korea, I can actually launch this enterprise. So far, life is good. I can’t describe the relief upon seeing my name on a sign at the airport! I had a sinking fear that this was all some scam. After all, I do have the body of a gigolo. My apartment is amazing! This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Happy Liberation Day Everyone. Climbing: at last →. Sounds...

Climbing: at last | My Year Teaching English in Suwon, South Korea

https://seouldier.wordpress.com/2008/08/23/climbing-at-last

My Year Teaching English in Suwon, South Korea. August 23, 2008. My ADD kicked in, and I couldn’t go another day without some climbing. However, getting to the gym was no trivial pursuit. You see, I don’t actually know where I live, and if I got lost, NO ONE in this country speaks English. So anywhere I go is a little nerve racking. What if I didn’t make the last train home? Hopefully I would have 50,000 won handy, because I’d need a cab, and ATM machines close for some reason. This guy came in to the gy...

Happy Chuseok! | My Year Teaching English in Suwon, South Korea

https://seouldier.wordpress.com/2008/09/16/happy-chuseok

My Year Teaching English in Suwon, South Korea. September 16, 2008. The top of Janggun Bong. This weekend was an important holiday in Korea, China, Vietnam, and Japan. Chuseok. Asia’s version of Thanksgiving, with an element of ancestor worship. For us western climbers, that meant a three-day weekend with no one at the rock, due to visiting family. By navigating http:/ www.KoreaOnTheRocks.com. From Sokcho, we took a city bus to the entrance to Seoraksan National Park, which made me very happy. Walkin...

Happy Liberation Day Everyone | My Year Teaching English in Suwon, South Korea

https://seouldier.wordpress.com/2008/08/15/happy-liberation-day-everyone

My Year Teaching English in Suwon, South Korea. Stolen Wireless Internet →. Happy Liberation Day Everyone. August 15, 2008. Today is Liberation Day in Korea, a national holiday akin to our own 4th of July. I’m sure someone is stoked, but I want to dig a hole and hide! I did all my visa processing on Monday, and they told me to pick up my visa on Wednesday or later. Who’d a’ thunk the Consulate would be closed on Friday without telling me? Most perfect place to rock climb. Day one, we climbed Oz. You are ...

Geombae | My Year Teaching English in Suwon, South Korea

https://seouldier.wordpress.com/2008/10/06/geombae

My Year Teaching English in Suwon, South Korea. October 6, 2008. That means “cheers” in Korean, and my full glass of soju goes out to all y’all. News this week: learning a lot more Korean, and (you guessed it) some rock climbing. Which says a lot about Korea. The detailed paintings on the sides of the buildings are incredible. Let me know if you want more pictures. How old do you think this fellow is? I’ll give you a hint: he’s trying a 5.12d climb (translation: pretty hard). The answer: 66 years old!
