Sadie's Kanzashi Blog: Kanzashi Morning Glory
http://sadieskanzashiblog.blogspot.com/2013/10/kanzashi-morning-glory.html
Friday, October 18, 2013. Helen and I love kanzashi morning glories! We've been admiring them for years, and Helen has tried to figure out how to make one the traditional way, with absolutely no success. We have observed two distinct petal shapes that other artists use for asagao. Or morning glories. Here's an example of one. It might be hard to see, but it's a rounded petal that creates a trumpet-shaped flower. We think it's just so beautiful. You can buy this one on Etsy from JagataraArt here. OK, now ...

Sadie's Kanzashi Blog: November 2014
http://sadieskanzashiblog.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 23, 2014. Well, it's time to fess up. It is with great sadness that I must report to you that Sadie the Snowball Princess died on November 20, 2014. She had been living with kidney disease for about 2 1/4 years, and that's about as long as a cat can go with that kind of thing. I loved my little woogums very much, and I hope she is in a better place. Sadie's early life was difficult. My friend Jason. Adopted her from the Chicago Anti-Cruelty Society. I could see that the 19 1/2 year-old B...

Sadie's Kanzashi Blog: June 2014

Monday, June 16, 2014. Kanzashi Bracelet, Part Six. Good heavens, how could 2 months go by with no blog post? I guess we've been pretty distracted. Ten thousand apologies. Helen is finally starting to get the hang of this kanzashi cuff bracelet business. It has certainly taken long enough. As with many things in kanzashi making, it's a matter of thinking through the geometry. And it's quite an elegant leaf design. The underside sealed up with a ribbon. Optional flower that you can custom order if you want.

Sadie's Kanzashi Blog: You're Making What? by Helen
http://sadieskanzashiblog.blogspot.com/2015/06/youre-making-what-by-helen.html
Friday, June 26, 2015. I have recently been engaged in an online course called Creative Badass Challenge. In February of 2014, a guy in New York asked me to make him some kanzashi lapel flowers for men. I had previously been making only women's hair accessories, brooches, necklaces and bracelets. I had never before seen the application that this guy was talking about (BTW, what became of you, Don, and what have you done with my flowers? So, why am I making them? Four really good reasons! 3 I can charge t...

That's mostly it, no other excuses. I'm enjoying my afterlife here.it's fun. I don't know why some humans call it the Rainbow Bridge.I don't see any bridges or rainbows. Just lots of nice cats, all of whom I like, and plenty of mice for if you're hungry. Check it out on Sara's website for more pix! Buy 'em all here. My Favo...

Sadie's Kanzashi Blog: Kanzashi Bow Tie Lapel Pin Tutorial

Saturday, January 3, 2015. Kanzashi Bow Tie Lapel Pin Tutorial. Sadie here, blogging from the beyond. Now, about a year ago, Helen was trying to make the traditional asagao,. Be sure that the raw edge isn't too close to the folded edge. Helen used 2.5 inch squares of vintage kimono silk for these, just to give you an idea of the size. Now, fold your rectangle in half. And now pinch it in the middle and secure it with a hair pin, or something. OK, stage 1 is done. Now, cut a little fabric for the cent...

Sadie's Kanzashi Blog: September 2014

Sunday, September 28, 2014. Wired Kanzashi Flower Centers. OK you guys, Helen promised a tutorial, and she is delivering! Finally. Have you ever had some small beads that matched your kanzashi flower really well, but you didn't want to use them, because they wouldn't cover up the raw edges of the center well enough? Well it could happen, and here's what you can do about it. Now, just insert your contraption into the small hole in the center of your flower. Here's another photo to show you what we're doing.
