December 17, 2008. This is a poem I wrote tonight while waiting for my wife to get off work. I was sitting in my car while the rain beat down outside. I had Jon Foreman's "Your Love Is Strong" cranking over the speakers. I wrote this on my phone. You woke me this morning and invited me to breathe. You took away my clothes, you stole my stuff. You burned my possessions, you were enough. You took my hand and invited me outside. You set flame to my house and gave my car away. It pained me to watch it all go.

November 8, 2007. The Road to Black Lake. Today the sun rose black. Over a beautiful town. My heart rose with hope. And fell to the ground. I stepped out into the cold. And wondered which road to take. When I saw a dark figure in the distance. Waving me in the direction of a dark lake. A strong wind fought me. As I began to walk. I didn't want to go. But I couldn't seem to talk. I heard a voice say. Come here son, these waters are warm. I took a breath and started to cry. Someone pushed me from behind.
