Sometimes it is needed — seven spoons
http://sevenspoons.net/blog/2013/3/5/sometimes-it-is-needed
Sometimes it is needed. I was looking at some photographs and noticed that 50 weeks ago, I was wearing sandals. Sandals! With jeans and a sweater and no coat! I realize last winter was an exceptionally mild one, and I swear I'm not going to talk about the weather, but still, I'm putting that out there. I'm also putting out a krantz cake and putting up water for coffee. Things for which you might want to stay tuned. But because of the need for the busyness of making one. The krantz is from the. I'd like t...

How is it already. Close to being June? I'm holding tight to the well-worn marks of weekly routines to remind myself of the borders between these days, rather than accepting them as a smear across the calendar. I am happiest with a schedule, and yet want Monday to feel different than Wednesday. Saturdays are for the farmer's market and tacos for breakfast, Tuesdays are often a standing bibimbap lunch, and Sunday night is when I make granola. When I was fine-tuning the recipes for my book. 1/2 cup 60g sun...
I'm strongly considering — seven spoons
http://sevenspoons.net/blog/2013/8/5/strongly-considering
I'm going to get straight to the point, because the point here is peaches, and as of my count taken at 2:27 pm on Monday, August 5, I've had two servings of said peaches. I'm strongly considering a third. I should say, the peaches aren't just peaches, though peaches alone are fine. The result was so good, so exactly what I was looking for, that I became set on another go round, this time with peaches and oats expressly made for breakfast. The peaches barely require a recipe, brushed with their own allotm...
To you — seven spoons
http://sevenspoons.net/blog/2015/21/to-you
Right now, I don't think I have the words to properly convey what it was like to launch. The book. My book. Please bear with me, as I try. The launch happened in stages. Last night, some of my nearest and dearest gathered at Ben McNally Books. We had cheese from St. Lawrence Market with pickled strawberries, charcuterie, and chocolate chip cookies. There were a few rolls of Instax film ( evidence, here. And bubbles and oysters around the corner to end the night with Nikole. There again, that lucky feeling.
Each other's company — seven spoons

I'm terrible at Christmas. Birthdays too. When it comes to gift giving, it is rare I make it to the finish before dropping hints to the recipient as to the present that's been purchased with them in mind. In dire cases of eagerness, I end up breaking down and giving presents early. It might be smart for me to purchase two sets of gifts at the get go. The trouble is, I get so excited at the giving, that I fail miserably at the waiting. Plus, sugar buns don't need my help. They state their own case. They o...

Believe it or not I got the idea to make these from the Cheesecake Factory. I love that place if only that our kids can pretty much do anything they want and we can have a decent meal without getting arrested for disturbing the peace (read: macaroni and cheese flying over the divider to the booth next to us). Our friends were over this evening and my buddy Kai brought a great bottle of white to go with the artichokes. A perfect combination. As many artichokes as you plan to serve/eat/make. This being the...

At The Culinary Institute of America (CIA). We got a chance to sit down for a good meal at American Bounty, one of the restaurants on the Culinary Institute of America's New York campus. My brother was just finishing up there and so we grabbed dinner the night before his graduation (woo hoo! Next we had the sage braised duck leg with wild mushrooms and potato dumplings. This was great, the cheese slice was a little out of place, but I can't say it took anything away from the dish. Following the fish we g...

What To Do With 10 Pounds of Wild Maitake. So what you first need to do is break it down, meaning cut off all the stem and gunk and stuff you're sure you don't want. Then, slowly start cutting off serving sized pieces, rinsing them in a bowl of cold water and then air drying them on a towel. Be sure to get everywhere, as little things can hide in crevaces, you're been warned! Now take whatever you want to cook, and set it aside. Relish in your foraging cave-manly lifestyle! When they're nice and carameli...

In Baha, Mexico. A buddy of mine organized a fishing trip for a group of us in Cabo Del Este, Mexico. I'd been fishing growing up with my dad for (what I now understand as small-ish) bluefish and stripers in the Northeast, but I had no idea what I was in store for on this trip. Think like a chef. Cooking With Cooper: December 2014
http://cookingwithcooper.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Recipes with a little shopping, dining out, and style thrown in for good measure. Tuesday, December 2, 2014. Okay, so it's been a year since I added a new recipe. I've been a bit busy elsewhere including publishing a book during that time. I ran across this recipe, however, and had to try it as we eat a lot of zucchini. We are already thinking of great ways to use it and pair it.with risotto, shredding the zucchini into long strands like spaghetti and add some pasta with it, too. You might have some ideas.

Monday, June 27, 2011. Sausage and Lentil Stew. I recently discovered a new food blog, Budget Bytes, and when I saw this recipe for Sausage and Lentil Stew. I wanted to make it immediately. Sausage and Lentil Stew. 1 pound Italian sausage. 1 onion, diced. 3 carrots, chopped. 4 celery stalks, chopped. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 2 cups lentils, picked through and rinsed. 6 cups chopped kale. 6 cups chicken broth. Since Amanda could not stomach this stew, I ended up eating the leftovers of this dish for every...

The aim to perfect S'mores Brownies. I have no intention of relying on phone photography here, but I am a bit in love with this shot. It wasn't my plan on sharing this recipe either, as snapping the pic was a spontaneous thing, and the recipe was a bit thrown together, in the aim to perfect a birthday wish. But we'll get to that. First, to explain. Ginger root I grate while still rock hard, chiles, and lime leaves. I am rarely without frozen spinach and sweet peas. Those brownies though, they're celebrat...
