Monday, February 11, 2013. Chicken (and cat) Photo Shoot. Asia the rodent killer, enjoying the sunshine. I call this one fluffy, well, because she is fluffy! Haha she has a fluffy back side and is really a hoot personality wise. I thought she was going to peck the camera she came so close! Mr Rooster making sure that black thing making the clicking noises was okay. He watched me like a hawk! He is a friendly guy though and a quiet crower (is that even a word? I am very pleased with him! I won't go into a...
My Hauser Homestead: Why Have Chickens?
http://hauserhomestead.blogspot.com/p/why-have-chickens.html
QWhy do you want chickens in your back yard? Your not on a farm. A Chickens are fun, they make good pets, are easy to care for, they keep weeds and bugs down, and the best part, they lay eggs! QWon't your neighbors complain about the crowing? No We will not keep the roosters. Q Don't you need a rooster for eggs? A No You need a rooster for making fertile eggs that will hatch babies, but hens will lay (non-fertile) eggs without a rooster. Q How many chickens will you have? Q Will you name them? Large group...

Thursday, December 15, 2011. Cooking Rooster, Making Soap, and Day Dreaming about Gardening. Well it happened. We could not find a home for Big Red. My husband was going over to help a friend butcher their roosters and he took Big Red along. This happened last Friday and my Joy Joy did her best to be strong, but there were a lot of tears. All I could do is hold her and cry with her. It will make soup one way or the other! I watched a really good movie called Back To Eden Film. Shares the story of one man...

Saturday, June 25, 2011. Pictures From our Tiny but Happy Homestead. I can't paint, so I Photoshop. The big squash plant in the back, is in the middle compost pile. Henna and Alpha. See how much smaller Alpha is? I still need to paint that board! She is a sweet little thing. She could see if she got her hair cut! Last night I went out and took a bunch of pictures to share with you. I thought the Oregano was almost worth the dime I paid for each of them but after a good watering they don't look half bad.

Sunday, May 26, 2013. RIP Snow Flake and Clover Flower GF Pancakes. Life can be hard sometimes. Being in a subdivision, in a fenced garden, and in a cage, we thought our sweet pets Snowflake and his girl Crow were safe from harm. The girls went out a couple of weeks ago to find something had reached in and taken their heads off. :-( Heart breaking! It has been weeks, and writing this still makes me want to cry. Full grown and still tiny. They may have been tiny but they were large on personality! That ma...

Adventures in Sewing and Beading. Grace’s New Outfit- Simplicity 8282. I picked this pattern and several of the other American Girl patterns from Simplicity in early December. Honestly, the teal dress on the pattern enveloped just jumped out as one to make for Grace. I stitched the sleeve lining to the sleeve at the hem then pressed and top-stitched. I put the sleeve into the dress bodice in the flat and used my serger to finish the seam allowance. Next, I closed up the side seams and serged....Kit’...
